Years of shame in governance.
From Bricklayer to Governor: Why Has Nwifuru Forgotten the Struggles of Ordinary Ebonyians?
Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s story is one that should inspire millions—a young man who once worked as a bricklayer rising through hard work and resilience to become the Governor of Ebonyi State. But today, we are forced to ask: has he forgotten where he came from?
It is painful to watch as the same man who once mixed cement under the sun now presides over a government that spends millions of naira on luxury cars for a privileged few, while the poor and hardworking youths of Ebonyi continue to suffer at construction sites, with little to no support from the government.
Those same bricklayers, laborers, hawkers, and artisans who once shared the same hustle with the governor are still out there—hungry, unemployed, and ignored. Instead of lifting them up, instead of creating empowerment programs that reach the real grassroots, Governor Nwifuru is busy distributing jeeps and SUVs in the name of politics and reward.
Is this the leadership Ebonyi people voted for? A government of elites, for elites, and by elites?
We remind the Governor: true greatness is not in rising above the people, but in lifting others as you rise. You were once one of them. You know their pain. You speak their language. So why abandon them now?
Ebonyi’s resources must serve Ebonyians—not a selected few. The time to return to the people is now.
