Sometimes a recording remains hidden away for so long and for so many reasons; because of the emotions that accompanied its making, because it felt too private to be shared, or simply because the passing of time has taken it away from its context.

To My Neighbourhood was recorded in 2018, in a world that seems completely different from now, yet what remains is the spontaneity of six takes on a Fender Telecaster that had just entered the studio. It’s a small personal tribute to the ordinary day to day, the encounters, the relationships of a specific time, and the passion for the people you meet in a small slice of town.

The remix by Imaginary Part furthers the idea of connection, despite the distance.

Sometimes, a recording stays tucked away, not ready to be shared. “To my Neighbourhood” has been produced back in 2018, in a different world, a different time. These six spontaneous takes on a Fender Telecaster hold so many personal memories. An ode to “that everyday”, to fleeting connections, and the beautiful non-rhythm of the ordinary.

Now, the time feels right to let it breathe, to let it resonate. Alongside the remix of Imaginary Part, it’s my small way of reminding me that some connections are closer than others.

IMAGINARY PART

resident Davide Cuoghi is an italian sound designer and producer based in Manchester. He debuted on Museek back in 2016 and he’s now one of the label column.

His live set is a journey from ambient to syncopated rhythms, united by a coherent aesthetic based on synthetic sounds, glitches and a perfect knowledge of modular synths, which, out of any fashion, are masterfully used to create a well-defined personal sound.
