To reduce stress and tension, you just need to sit by the pool for 7 minutes - or the beach - or even a trickling fountain. The University of North Florida says the sound of water relieves muscle tension and slows your heart rate in just 7 minutes. It works by curbing activity in your sympathetic nervous system - which is responsible for your stressful fight or flight response. It’s the system that gets us all revved up! But the sound of water calms activity in that region and helps us relax. It even has a name: “Blue Health.” Because finding water was crucial to the survival of our ancient ancestors. So even today, whenever we get anywhere near water, our stress levels plummet, and we experience a significant mood boost. 🏊♂️💧🌞🧠
