CATS and HAMMERS/Kucing dan Tukul
Antara elemen yang sentiasa hadir untuk semua lawatan Presiden dan Naib Presiden di dalam dan luar negara, ialah Counter Assault Team dan Hazardous Agent Mitigation & Medical Emergency Response (HAMMER). Selain itu, CAT turut melindungi mana-mana VIP berisiko tinggi asing yang di bawah lindungan USSS.

Bersenjatakan raifal KAC SR-16 dan pistol G***k 19/47, fungsi utama CAT adalah untuk menarik (divert), menyekat (suppress) dan meneutralisasikan (neutralise) serang terancang terhadap VIP, motorked ataupun lokasi yang dilindungi. Untuk melaksanakan tugas-tugas mereka, anggota-anggota CAT membuat perancangan taktikal terlebih dahulu dan berkoordinasi dengan elemen taktikal lain yang menyokong.

Sementara itu, pasukan HAMMER bersedia untuk pengesanan dan campur tangan ancaman chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN), bantuan kecemasan perubatan dan keupayaan penyelamat. Mereka menerima latihan menyeluruh dalam perubatan kecemasan dan bidang CBRN. Sebagai ejen khas dan anggota Uniformed Division, mereka juga membawa pistol.

One of the elements that will be present for any Presidential and Vice Presidential visit domestic and abroad, are the US Secret Service Counter Assault Teams and Hazardous Agent Mitigation & Medical Emergency Response (HAMMER) teams. Aside from that, CAT protects any high-risk protectees that are under USSS protection.

Armed with KAC SR-16 rifles and G***k 19/47 handguns, CAT’s primary function is to divert, suppress and neutralise an organised attack against a protectee, motorcade or supported location. To accomplish their mission, CAT personnel conduct thorough tactical advance planning and extensive coordination with supporting tactical entities.

Meanwhile, HAMMER teams stand by for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) detection and intervention, emergency medical support and rescue capabilities, receiving extensive training in emergency medicine and CBRN hazards. As USSS special agents and Uniformed Division officers, HAMMER personnel too carry sidearms.

‘Worthy of Trust and Confidence’

Sejak 2019, ejen khas Perkhidmatan Rahsia AS dan pegawai Uniformed Division (UD)mula menggunakan G***k 19 dan G***k 47 9mm, menggantikan pistol SIG Sauer P229 .357 SIG yang digunakan agensi tersebut sebelum itu. Menurut Internet, G19 digunakan oleh ejen khas dan pegawai UD manakala G47 digunakan oleh ejen Special Operations Division (SOD). Ejen kerap membawa pistol berkenaan dengan weaponlight dan/atau pejera optik, dengan pistol-pistol tersebut dalam kegunaan ejen Presidential Protective Division (PPD) paling ketara semasa percubaan membunuh Presiden Trump di Butler.

Since 2019, US Secret Service special agents and Uniformed Division (UD) officers began carrying 9mm G***k 19 and G***k 47 pistols, replacing the agency’s SIG Sauer P229 chambered in .357 SIG. According to the Internet, the G19 is used by special agents and UD officers while the G47 is used by Special Operations Division (SOD) agents. Agents often carry the pistols with weaponlights and/or optics, with the pistols carried by the Presidential Protective Division (PPD) most famously being seen out in the open at the attempted assassination of President Trump in Butler.

Imbas balik Sidang AS-Korea Utara di Singapura yang dihadiri Presiden Trump dan pemimpin Kim Jong Un. Saya ke Singapura untuk mengambil gambar kerana tidak begitu jauh dan ia antara lawatan POTUS terdekat di sekitar Malaysia pada masa itu.

Singapura meningkatkan keselamatan sepanjang acara yang tegang itu sebagai tuan rumah kerana reputasi mereka sebagai negara paling selamat di Asia sementara Perkhidmatan Rahsia AS (USSS) membuat persiapan seperti lawatan luar negara POTUS lain.

Throwback to 2018’s US-North Korea Summit in Singapore which was attended by President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. I traveled to Singapore to photograph the event because it was not that far away and was one of the rare trips for POTUS around Malaysia in several years.

Singapore stepped up security throughout the event, with its hosting of the high-tension summit attributed to its reputation as the safest country in Asia while the US Secret Service (USSS) prepared accordingly as they would any other foreign visit by POTUS.

The safety apparatus of the US Secret Service (USSS) and Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) during a visit by the US President (POTUS) to Malaysia. President Trump’s visit is his first since becoming the 47th President and 10 years since the last POTUS visited in 2015 also for the ASEAN Summit.
