And finally that brings us to R.A.C Rally 2023, the longest and most gruelling event to date. Just the three middle days for us but what an adventure. I have especially fond memories of the Scottish leg which gave us the opportunity to visit 2 new (to us) stages where the freezing morning temperatures made for some very picturesque scenes.

Pics from Myherin, Dalbeattie, Glencaird Hill, Newton Stewart Service and Kershope taken with Canon 5d mkiii / Canon 6d mkii / Canon 16-35 f2.8Lii / Canon 70-200 f2.8Lii.

Now for the 2025 event. I’m attempting the whole 5 days so best get packing!

R.A.C Rally 2019 / R.A.C Rally 2021. Suffering from small child induced sleep deprivation 2019 wasn’t one that majorly sticks in my mind. It didn’t help that the weather was horrible and wet for large parts!

On the other hand a brilliant day was spent in Kielder for the 2021 event, just managing to escape before Storm Arwen hit which would subsequently lead to the full cancellation of the entire Scotland leg. Great to see Ryan Champion wrestle the Porsche 911 to victory also!

Pics from Gwibedog, Ash Park, Greskine, Chirdonhead & Carlisle H&H all taken with Canon 5d mkiii / Canon 70-200 f2.8Lii / Canon 16-35 f2.8Lii

R.A.C 2017. After a three year break the Roger Albert Clark Rally was back with a bang. Now a biennial event the route would be extended to four days and visit Wales for the very first time. Fittingly the weather was also playing ball to welcome back this great event in style.

Pics from Radnor, Shepherdshield, Harwood, Greskine and Twiglees all taken with Canon 5d mkiii / Canon 16-35 f2.8Lii / Canon 70-200 f2.8Lii.

The report and pics for this one were supplied to Historic Motor Racing News; my last piece of professional work to date before a required pause as my immediate family was about to get bigger!

R.A.C 2014, the controversial one! Managed to get myself signed on as media for this one which granted welcome access to scruitineering at Sunderland’s Seaburn Centre and the Ogre Hill stage!

The event wasn’t greatly supported which ultimately lead to a 3 year hiatus as the organisers were forced into a re-think. Potentially a blessing in disguise as the Roger Albert Clark Rally has gone from strength to strength ever since!

Pics from Scruitineering, Hamsterley, Ash Park and Ogre Hill, taken with the Canon 7d and canon 16-35 f2.8Lii / Canon 70-200 f2.8Lii. Really struggled with the bad light on this event which lead to the retirement of this camera as I decided to go full frame for 2015!

Incidentally my write up for this event is still the most read on my website! 👇

R.A.C Rally 2013, most memorable for that amazing day in Craik! Just the two days for us on this one but WHAT a two days with great action in Duncombe Park, Pundershaw and of course Craik.

All pics taken with the Canon 7d, Canon 16-35 f2.8Lii and Canon 70-200 f2.8Lii, the latter an upgrade for the 2013 season. Incidentally both lenses are still my ‘go to’ today so definitely had my moneys worth out of them!

As excitement builds for the 2025 Roger Albert Clark Rally i’m going to be sharing a few memories from past events, starting with 2012 …

Dad put his back out on the run up to this one so did three days of the event on my lonesome in my late Grandads Freelander Mk1. The Yorkshire leg was a particular highlight whilst the lonely night spent in Upper Cheviot car park was not!

Pics from Dalby / Gale Rigg / Croft / Riccarton and all taken with a Canon 7d and 70-400 f4L / 16-35 f2.8Lii
