👋🏻 hi! I’ve been gone this year, on Instagram that is. As some of you may remember, I had a baby about a year ago! Our perfect, spunky, chubby-cheeked little Rowan joined us last March and ever since my perspective (and priorities) on sharing on here shifted a bit.
I capture, curate, and share other’s milestones for a living! It’s an opportunity I will never take for granted. Because what a beautiful thing it is to have a visual memento to recall the seasons of life where your love and joy felt like it was bursting at the seems?!
Much of my own personal sharing on this account was a nod to that same desire. Taking photos and videos of my life to romanticize the day to day— I still find so much joy and gratitude in doing that.
Although after I had Rowan I began having these burst-at-the-seems feelings in the most ordinary of ways — kissing those chubby cheeks at 2am…and 4 and 5am. Watching his little nose crinkle when he learned how to smile, hearing him “sing” in the car with me or watch him chew his food for the first time. (Spoiler, being a parents is like, really really fun.)
Ever since his sweet little face came into my world I quickly began to realize something — I will never be able to fully articulate, capture, or share the amount of joy and love that my heart holds as his mama. And as it relates to social media: I don’t have to share it!! There is so much freedom in really, truly knowing that.
Choosing the moments to share with people close to us has been special, and the moments to not share feel close to sacred.
All this to say, I took a huge step back from sharing on social media in 2024 as I became a mom. But I still got to work for some really awesome couples— getting to know their stories and creating films that aim to articulate their joy. That will always be my first priority in running Kass Films.
Now, while I also get to be a full-time mom, I’ll continue to only take on a very limited number of projects each year — elopements, weddings, families. You may see me a bit more on here again, or maybe not! But always be sure to check my YouTube Channel for my most recent work! It’s way better for videos anyways 😉
