Juneteenth has been a central part of my life as a descendant of enslaved Africans in Texas. While I’m grateful for its growing recognition, I also feel mixed emotions about its transformation into a federal holiday. In my latest blog post, I reflect on the significance of Juneteenth, the discomfort of empty gestures, and how this day should be about both remembrance and action. It’s a day for Black people to rest and celebrate in community, but also a day for others to learn, serve, and give back. Let’s make Juneteenth a true day of reflection, education, and meaningful change.

As a descendant of enslaved Africans in Texas, Juneteenth holds deep significance for my family and was a central part of my childhood.

Half of the DynaMIXED Duo is back with a new episode of BLERDcoMIXed. Last week I was in Chicago for C2E2 and got to hang out with some friends so I had to do a recap with one of said friends for y'all.
