🧠 Celebrating World Autism Awareness Day 💚
For those who may not know, April is Autism Acceptance Month, and today, April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day.
As a proud member of the neurodivergent community and a parent to an incredible son diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), today means a lot to me.
It’s a day to celebrate him for his unique mind, his view of the world, and the person he is because of the way his brain processes information differently from neurotypical people.
If autism hasn’t touched your life personally, it’s hard to describe the beauty and challenge it brings.
It can mean finding joy in the simplest and often overlooked things. It can also mean struggling to make connections and finding peace in a world that can be overwhelmingly loud, fast, and intense.
Not every day is easy (it isn't for most I openly admit) we don’t win as many days as I’d like, it can all change in a second, but when we do… my gosh, the highs are beyond words 🙌
Over the next month, you might see more green on your timeline 💚 or puzzle piece symbols 🧩. This is part of the global effort to raise awareness and promote acceptance of autistic individuals.
➡️ According to the World Health Organization, it’s now estimated that 1 in 100 children worldwide are autistic.
The world is slowly coming to terms with the way autism presents and with each year, each post, each conversation, we move a little closer to a more inclusive, understanding society.
