Making Noise in the South (MNIS) is a collective of writers and media specialists in the US South focused on working-class politics and issues. We write about labor issues, cultural issues, race and white supremacy, the latest films and televisions shows, gender issues and patriarchy, homophobia, and anti-fascism. Our focus is on the South and our region’s diverse collection or cultures and tradit
ions. Some of our writers are also involved in overdose prevention, harm reduction, and disability justice, so be prepared to see a lot of that as well. Our writers pop up all over the political spectrum. We express a wild variety set of political views, but we do share one thing in common: we believe in the collective power of people working together to get things done. That is why we write. Sometimes we write about things we feel very strongly about. We don’t pretend to be objective because, in a world dominated by a system of domination by a few and exploitation of everyone else, what does it really mean to be objective? We do attempt to present multiple perspectives and engage in critical thinking with our writing. Of course, we sometimes like to have a little fun and stir up trouble too. We are Making Noise in the South and in so doing, we seek to raise the voice of the working class. If you’re down with all that and might be interested in joining our collective and writing with us shoot us an email at [email protected]. You don’t have to be a MNIS member to write for us, but any articles submitted by non-members must be approved by a simple majority of the collective. Publication of time sensitive stories are subject to the discretion of our editors.
