✨ Today, with immense joy, I will receive my Doctorate Honoris Causa from Gestalt University of Mexico 🇲🇽🌎
This honor celebrates not only my more than 30 years of career in music and academia, but also the dream of bringing my art to the world stage.
I am proud to be the first Ecuadorian, Hispanic, and Ibero-American nominated for a GRAMMY® in the category Best Contemporary Blues Album with my twelfth record, The Fury. In a category where legends such as B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Ruthie Foster, and Joe Bonamassa have made history, today my name stands alongside theirs. 🏆🎵
I have also been nominated for the Latin GRAMMY® as a mixing engineer, and throughout my career I have had the honor of sharing the stage with blues icons such as Sugar Blue, Sandra Hall, Lurrie Bell, Billy Branch, and Chembo Corniel.
My music has been featured in Rolling Stone USA and the Daily Guardian (UK), reaching audiences across five continents and hitting number one on radio stations and music charts worldwide. As a producer and composer, I have created more than 90 albums, written 178 songs registered with ASCAP, and hold more than 350 official credits in the industry. My studio, AVA Recording Studios, has been nominated for both the GRAMMY® and the Latin GRAMMY®, consolidating itself as a benchmark in music production.
In 2025, I was honored by the United States Congress for my service to the community and the music industry—an honor very few have received. I am also grateful to ASCAP for recognizing my work as a composer.
Beyond the stage, I have dedicated more than 9,448 certified university teaching hours over 18 years, impacting institutions in Ecuador, Mexico, and Spain at undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral levels. 🎓
💫 This Doctorate Honoris Causa is not only mine: it belongs to everyone who has walked beside me on this journey, believing in the power of music, education, and culture to transform lives.
