Texas Tells Town ‘No Cops for You’ After Rogue Police Dept. Caught Arresting Citizens for Being Critical of Town

Months after a citizen was put in jail for a social media post about the community’s water, Trinidad police were notified that the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement had revoked all required licenses, effectively shutting down the department, according to KETK-TV .

The state agency investigated the police department in August and found it did not meet minimum standard licenses for the Trinidad Police Department, meaning the agency has effectively been disbanded this week.

The department of five full-time officers and some part-timers "was unable to provide evidence that the agency provides public benefit to the community,” the state wrote in its scathing review, according to KDFW-TV .

It said 18 required policies were not in place.

"It was not a shock. I’m not gonna say that it was,” Trinidad Mayor Dennis Haws said.

"There’s been a lot of neglect through the years," Haws added.

The Henderson County Sheriff's Office will now cover Trinidad.

The department has been wallowing in controversy since May, when Jennifer Combs was arrested on a felony charge after saying the city’s water could be a health concern.

"We have received reports that some citizens have been hospitalized due to bacteria in the water. This is a serious public health concern that deserves immediate attention. If your water looks discolored, contains sediment, has a strong odor, or you have experienced related health issues, please send us a message. We are gathering information and reporting findings to the state,” the post said in part, according to KDFW-TV .

The department responded in April, saying on social media that Combs spread "false information that creates fear, panic, or unnecessary emergency response within a community."

Trinidad Police Chief Charles Gregory defended arresting Combs by saying claims of hospitalizations "are simply false and have only caused unnecessary fear and confusion in our community."

Combs spent a night in jail, which she called "horrifying."

“It was probably one of the most humiliating things I’ve ever gone through in my entire life," she said.

Combs filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Trinidad and Gregory, who has resigned.

After the arrest of Combs was made public, police arrested citizen Winston Noles on a charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct after a protest outside City Hall that used expletives to talk about "bad cops." The charge was later dismissed.

In August, the Henderson County District Attorney's Office said it would no longer take cases from Trinidad police.

California Loses ‘American Idol’ to Southern State as TV, Movie Productions Escape High Costs

“American Idol” is leaving Hollywood.

Season 25 of the ABC singing competition will be produced in the Atlanta area instead of California, TheWrap reported.

Fremantle, which produces the series with Sony Pictures Television’s 19 Entertainment, confirmed the relocation.

The show has filmed for years at Red Studios Hollywood. That run ends after Season 24.

The move is about production cost. Georgia offers tax credits of up to 30 percent for unscripted and reality series that spend at least $500,000 in the state.

California recently opened its film and TV credit program to some unscripted shows for the first time.

Those credits apply to large-scale competition series with a budget of $1 million or more.

Season 25 of “American Idol” reportedly did not qualify for the California incentive, TheWrap said.

Deadline reported that producers have been frustrated by language in the California bill that excludes “traditional reality, game shows, talk shows, or docufollow television programming.”

Fremantle is in final talks with an Atlanta-area studio complex and has not announced a signed facility deal, Deadline said.

The series already appears on Georgia’s “Now Filming” list, Fox 5 Atlanta and WSB-TV reported.

State and local officials have not named every stage of the competition that will shoot in Georgia.

Season 25 is expected to premiere in January. Online auditions through Idol Across America began in late August and run through Sept. 28.

Host Ryan Seacrest, who grew up in Dunwoody, is expected to return.

Judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood are also expected back for the new season.

Last season, the show already moved its Hollywood Week round to Nashville, a first step away from Los Angeles.

Other unscripted titles have left California as costs rose. “The Masked Singer” shifted production to New Jersey. Several game and music shows have moved out of state or overseas.

ABC renewed “American Idol” in July for a 25th season, its 10th on the network.

Fremantle confirmed the Georgia move to outlets that asked and declined to add further detail on the decision.

NYT Report Says Israelis 'Largely View Themselves as Victims' of Oct. 7 Massacre

WARNING: The following article contains sensitive descriptions of what occurred on Oct. 7 that some readers may find offensive.

Do you know how easy it is to say that "Israelis were the victims of Oct. 7?"

Pretty easy. I typed it out in five seconds.

A New York Times report , however, says that "Israelis still largely view themselves as the victims of Oct. 7." Published on Monday, this article describes a recent film concerning the conflict in Gaza. When speaking of the massacre itself, however, the Times is careful to avoid a proclamation of victimhood.

This should make you pause. It's not just a small grammatical difference; there is a seed of doubt baked into that sentence. And it's not just a seed, the Times bent over backwards to avoid painting the Israelis as objective victims.

For some reason or another, they want their readers to question, who was the real victim on Oct. 7?

In case you forgot, the correct answer is the Israelis.

"Across many attack sites, fighters fired directly at civilians, often at close range, as they tried to flee," said the Human Rights Watch in their 2024 report about the Oct. 7 attacks: I Can’t Erase All the Blood from My Mind .

"They hurled grenades and shot into safe rooms and other shelters and fired rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) at homes. They set some houses on fire, burning and suffocating people to death, and forcing out others who they then captured or killed. They took hundreds hostage for transfer to Gaza or summarily killed them."

A United Nations report concluded that "conflict-related sexual violence occurred during the 7 October attacks in multiple locations across Gaza periphery, including r**e and gang r**e, in at least three locations."

They describe finding "several fully naked or partially naked bodies ... with hands tied and shot multiple times, often in the head."

Conflict is never pretty. On Oct. 7, however, we saw levels of evil that should leave no doubt about who the victim is.

That isn't to say that Israel is perfect. There is a legitimate discussion to be had about whether or not their reaction has been proportionate. That discussion, however, does not change the fact that Israel was brutalized by Hamas on Oct. 7.

Victimhood is clear. So why is the Times sowing seeds of confusion?

It's because they hate the West.

Coverage from the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11 displays this point perfectly. Their homepage highlighted news pieces that twisted one of our nations greatest tragedies into a declaration of American islamophobia.

Watch: Chaos Erupts at Courthouse When Convict Busts Out of His Handcuffs and Charges Through Sheriff's Deputies

A convicted felon managed to break out of his handcuffs and charge at sheriff's deputies in Columbiana County, Ohio, after a sentencing hearing Monday.

Judge Scott Washam passed sentence on Timothy Reaggle for aggravated menacing, aggravated assault, and failure to comply with the signal or order of a police officer.

After learning the details of his sentence, he assaulted two deputies in the hallway while being led out of court, leaving one of them bleeding on the floor, according to WFMJ-TV.

The deputy was reportedly bleeding from the head and attempted to put pressure on the wound by holding a towel against his face.

The deputies who were assaulted were transported to a local hospital for treatment, but their current status was not released to the public.

Columbiana County Sheriff Brian McLaughlin said, "I just know one of them sustained some head injuries, and potentially back injuries on the other one."

When Reaggle allegedly tried to leave the courthouse after committing the assault, he very nearly escaped, but was shot with a taser and was ultimately apprehended.

The video began with Reaggle walking normally in front of one of the deputies. He then quickly managed to slip off his handcuffs and delivered a haymaker punch to the deputy's throat before running away.

He then managed to get past a second deputy and made it into the courthouse stairwell.

As he started to run down the stairs, Reaggle made contact with yet another deputy, whom he managed to elude before making a mad dash for the front door.

At the doorway, Reaggle was finally tased and fell to the ground just before he could make it outside. Several officers arrived as backup and managed to subdue him before anyone else could be hurt.

A good Samaritan who was at the courthouse for an unrelated matter stepped in to help the first deputy who'd been hit in the face and was still lying on the ground bleeding.

"I rushed over to the sheriff to make sure he was OK, because it was a pretty hard hit," said Leland Monte. "I was pretty concerned for the officer. And I just tried to think fast and make sure that he was OK."

"I didn't know what to think," he added. "I was having a panic attack, really."

Reaggle will be facing additional assault charges due to his actions, which could result in several years behind bars.

"Likely the charges will be a felony escape, along with an assault on two peace officers," McLaughlin concluded.

House Passes Bipartisan Bill That Would Make Data Centers Foot the Bill for Increased Utility Costs

The House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday that would force data centers to cover any extra utility costs they create, as the issue takes center stage ahead of November's midterm elections.

The legislation , known as "The Ratepayer Protection Act," passed with flying colors, with a final tally of 417-3, according to CNBC .

The bill targets the recent expansion of data centers across the country linked to an uptick in artificial intelligence, and protects consumers from rising costs, Reuters reported .

It also sets standards that state regulators can adopt to require artificial intelligence data centers "with a demand of 100 megawatts or more to cover the costs of building new power sources, transmission lines, and other infrastructure, rather than passing those costs down to consumers," according to CNBC.

Democratic Rep. Kathy Castor of Florida and GOP Rep. Gabe Evans of Colorado introduced the bill and garnered dozens of co-sponsors.

“My neighbors across Florida are grappling with skyrocketing electric bills. Ratepayers should not have to subsidize wealthy corporations’ growing energy demands, especially from AI data centers,” Castor said in a June statement .

Despite passing the House, its future in the Senate remains unclear.

"The principle is commonsense: Those creating the new demand should be responsible for the costs associated with meeting that demand,” Evans wrote in an op-ed for the Washington Reporter on Monday.

"Many American communities today are seeing that when data center development is done responsibly, American consumers can actually benefit -- from lower utility rates to decreasing tax rates, all while keeping their data stored securely here at home, under American laws and protections, rather than in data centers controlled by Communist China," he continued.

"This issue is only becoming more important as the global race for artificial intelligence accelerates," Evans added.

He also stressed that "Communist China is working every day to outcompete the United States, wage cyberwar, steal American innovation and information, and expand its technological influence around the world."

"America cannot afford to lose that race," Evans concluded.

House ​Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries called it an "appropriate step forward" but said that "more clearly needs to be done," during a news conference this week.

GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson used a tactic known as "suspension of the rules" to bring the bill to the floor, expediting the process due to its broad support and lack of controversy.
