It’s been a difficult number of weeks as we learn about the devastation in Ukraine. According to the UNCHR (the United Nations Refugee Agency), 3,866,224 people fled Ukraine as of March 27, 2022 (since 24 February, 2022). While many were able to flee, citizens within Ukraine's borders are trapped without food, water, and medicine.

Cleveland is home to world-renowned orchestras, museums, and diverse ethnic communities preserving traditional art forms. It only makes sense to draw upon these talented artists as the city comes together in support of Ukraine's cities and citizens in these troubling times.

We will feature all the artists participating in the benefit to raise funds for 3 humanitarian organizations.

Folk Carols of Poland by Troy Gawlak’s Polish Carolers.

This new Christmas album contains fourteen pastorałki (in English: shepherd’s carols) collected and arranged by Troy Gawlak, and performed old country style by an all-star lineup of musicians, including Polka Hall-of-Famer Eddie Siwiec on clarinet, nationally renowned violinist Steven Greenman, Polka Jammer’s Jim “Chainsaw” Kucharski on upright bass, Troy Gawlak on concertina and vocals, and special guests like Kevin Adams, John Jaworski, and Alex Fedoriouk.
Pastorałki, like the more common kolędy, also tell the Nativity story, but unlike kolędy the lyrics are more informal and personal, and the melodies more lively and folkish. These are the carols our ancestors would have sung throughout the Christmas season, especially when caroling, and many will be new to Polish-American listeners, as most have never before been recorded outside of Poland!
