Today (4th November) has been dedicated Male Victims of Domestic Abuse Day with organisations across the UK publicising the support they offer for men.

The ManKind Initiative and AMIS are two of those organisations that have supported us in preparing to shoot our short film, ‘Standing on the Bridge’ which highlights the subject of Male Domestic Abuse. We strongly encourage you to check them out and support them if you can. As registered charities, their services depend on the generosity of the public to help them.

🏆This short film was made for the 48 Hour Film Project Glasgow back in October 2024, where it finished 2nd amongst over 70 teams. The film won Best Actress for Kirsty Strain and was nominated for a further 8 awards including Best Actor - Atta Yaqub; Best Actor - Kyle McGuinness; Best Writing; Best Production Design; Best Poster; Best Use of Prop and Best Director.

🥇Recently, the film played at the 2025 HB Film Festival where it picked up the award for Best Comedy.

Fantastic news! Our crowdfunding campaign for ‘Standing on the Bridge’ is now complete. We were hoping to raise £18,000 in seven weeks, but we went over by £1,040, bringing in a total of £19,040—that’s 105% of our goal!

We are so thankful to everyone who donated and to Creative Scotland for their crowd-matching scheme, which really helped us reach our target.

Now that we’ve finished the official campaign, we’re officially in pre-production!

And here’s another exciting thing: because we exceeded our target, we can keep our campaign page up and running, so anyone can donate to the project. The donations won’t be match-funded, but this allows anyone that maybe missed our campaign to still help and be part of the film.

Introducing Michele Gallagher:
We’re proud to have Michele joining us who will be our intimacy coordinator for the film.

Michele trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and worked as an actor for over 20 years before retraining as an Intimacy Coordinator at the National Film and Television School. Since gaining her certification, she has worked on numerous theatre productions, television shows, short films and feature films.

We are funded!!!

On behalf of the entire cast and crew of ‘Standing on the Bridge’, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to you, our contributors, who have made this possible. With still two weeks left of the crowdfunding campaign, YOU have helped us exceed our target, and we can now make the film.

We still have two weeks left of the crowdfunding campaign, and Creative Scotland is still crowd-matching contributions, so there is still time for anyone you know to contribute even more.

Once the crowdfunding campaign has closed, then we will move straight into pre-production. Principal photography will take place towards the end of January 2026 - this allows plenty of time for our actors to rehearse their scenes. As you can appreciate, with such a serious and emotional topic, we want to ensure that we portray this correctly and accurately.

We will keep updating you via Crowdfunder for the next two weeks, then move over to updating you every few weeks as we get closer to production.
