This month, our website and API received 1.2 million unique visits, the most we have ever seen. For comparison, last year we were very proud of getting over 180,000 unique visits in a month.

This is amazing validation of the work we are doing on UMS and its infrastructure. Thank you so much for supporting our project. We have so many more planned features and improvements to come.

In 14.13.0 we have added support for Linkplay WiiM devices, improved LG TV support, added the ability for renderers to specify support for file muxing mode, fixed bugs and improved performance!

We have begun shifting our infrastucture to run 100% on renewable electricity from hydro and wind power.

There are several different elements to our infrastructure all at different locations around the world, so this is not a small undertaking but it is going well so far.

In the end it will not only mean we are taking responsibility for our impact, but it will also reduce our costs and improve our performance by a projected 500%, which for you means a much more responsive website, forum and API. It will also be more resilient to outages.

These kinds of big changes are only possible because of people like you. You all let us know that we have a great community that is worth improving for.

This is a heavily interactive web application, and JavaScript is required. Simple HTML interfaces are possible, but that is not what this is.

v15 alpha is here!

It's the result of 6 months of hard work to make our web UI more intuitive and modern.

We have added a user switcher with support for multiple logged-in users, a mode switcher to change between the two major areas: Player and Settings, pin code logins, dynamic TV season metadata, a file media info button, rewrites of our notification and realtime code, improved memory management, and a lot of other changes to improve usability and reduce the number of actions needed to do what you want.

Phew.

The development team have been using this version for months, and while there are more changes to come, it has been very stable for us.

We would love to see any opinions or ideas you have. This version is our response to feedback and reviews of UMS, and we need more feedback to guide it further.

We currently post updates to Facebook and X, and we want your input!

Times have changed a lot since we first made those accounts. At the time, people would use Facebook and Twitter to follow companies and products they liked. That might not be so true now, and there might be other platforms like Mastodon or Bluesky you want us to join, or maybe it's enough that we post on our website and Patreon. Maybe you rely more on mailing lists or RSS for updates. Maybe you just use the automatic updater. This is all leading up to the question:

How do you like us to communicate with you, and is it still useful for us to update via social media?

We just fixed a bug in our API that was preventing users from receiving localized data. So for our users of localized languages which include British English, Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, etc. you should notice more metadata that is relevant to your language and locale.

The API is the part of the app that provides things like cover images, crew info, episode titles, etc., we don't tend to share the changes widely because they happen instantly, instead of being part of a program release. This is an attempt to give more visibility over them, since we do put in a lot of work behind the scenes.
