With the exception of some underwater pickup shots that we'll be filming at the beginning of November, Desire's Masquerade has wrapped production! For the past 5 months, beginning with our fundraiser, our crew has been working tirelessly to bring this short film to life. We started with a script full of ambitious, unconventional ideas, extravagant locations, outrageously opulent production plans, and a relatively tiny budget. Somehow, one step at a time, our passionate crew and adept actors rose to the challenge of creating Desire's Masquerade. Producing this film has been hands down the most challenging and difficult thing I've ever done. Simultaneously these last five months, culminating in production, have been one of the most fun, inspiring and rewarding times of my life. Two things I will never forget:
1) A sense of awe and perfection felt on set while watching our actors breathe truth, heart, and magic into performances that began as words on my page and ideas bouncing around my head. Bearing witness to our ideas becoming fully animate and living through great character acting was a humbling experience. Thank you Ryan Tresser Dennis Fitzpatrick Yanira Torres Rachael Perrell Fosket Jeb Berrier and Del Lewis for your craft and for dreaming with me.
2) The joy, beauty and camaraderie of collaboration. This project is the result of an incredible group of creative minds, each bringing their own talents and skills to a diverse table of filmmakers. You pushed and inspired one another, you kept each other going when the hour was late, and you each have a unique stamp on this film. From the more than 50 extras who came out for our ballroom scene, to over 100 individuals who donated to the production, to an array of designers, creatives, and technicians who lent our film beauty and expertise, working with you has been nothing short of awe inspiring; you remind me what it means to live and work in a community of collaboration like Portland. Thank you for everything that you do,
