The Eugene Human Rights Commission’s Homelessness and Poverty Workgroup will host a candlelight vigil and community resource fair for National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day on Sunday, December 21, from 5–7 p.m. at the Eugene Farmers Market Pavilion.

Held on the longest night of the year, the vigil honors and remembers members of our community who passed away while experiencing homelessness. The event provides a space for reflection, remembrance, and community connection and is open to all members of the public.

The evening will begin with a community resource fair from 5–6 p.m., followed by the candlelight memorial from 6–7 p.m. The memorial will include music and opportunities for attendees to gather in remembrance. Community organizations will be present to share information and resources during the resource fair.

Every week, Waste to Taste rescues hundreds of pounds of food that would otherwise go to waste — and gives it for free to our community. ♻️💚

But we can’t do it without your help. Your donation goes directly to:
• Rescuing more food from grocery stores, bakeries, and farms
• Stocking our free grocery boxes for community members
• Covering storage, transportation, and staffing costs

Even a small contribution makes a big difference. Together, we can keep food out of landfills and in the hands of people who need it most. 🙌
