I'll try not to clog up your newsfeed! Down here in the West Country the locals use the expression 'back along'.

It's a useful way of not having to put a time, or even place, to something that happened a while ago. The 'when' and the 'where' are not needed, what's important is just 'what' was said or happened. You might say that it's a useful way of being precisely vague! And so 'back along' the global outlook was all rosy and positive: not in some post-Millenium buzz as that was savaged by 9/11. 'Back Along

' was somewhere between the fall of Baghdad in April 2003 and late-July 2007. By that September banks globally were having trouble funding themselves and come September 2008 Lehmann's had spectacularly imploded, threatening the entire global financial system and with it our entire way of life and security. The hangover has been painful and enduring.
'Back Along' the world was set to embrace democracy, the rule of law, and facebook. The outcome would be that borders and boundaries would come down, whilst ancient enmities and misunderstandings would be swept away by the digital revolution and easy travel. Finance and globalisation would keep us all employed, prosperous and happy. The futurists convinced us that technological progress would solve those pesky problems of climate change, population growth and the pressure on the planet and her resources. Unfortunately it hasn't quite panned out that way. But all is not lost! This blog attempts to highlight when and where we continue to go wrong, but then, and this is key, to wherever possible point out a solution, a better policy, or a more productive approach. Comment and debate is much sought after and very welcome. Somewhere about the blog are facebook, twitter and email links and comment boxes. Please use them as much as possible! In short 'GGR Writes' aims to restore the 'Back Along' into the 'Here and Now'. Gavin Grier-Rees

Former CIA Officer and whistleblower Kevin Shipp says the reason for all the crime and treason at the FBI and DOJ all boils down to one thing–the Clinton so-called “charity.” Shipp explains, “Hillary Clinton was running and is running a global financial criminal syndicate. She was using these secret servers to conduct Clinton financial money laundering business. The shocking thing about that is all the former directors of the CIA that have come out to support her, from Clapper to Brennan to Morell to Robert Gates supporting her being elected, knew about this criminal syndicate. Comey was protecting it. Lynch was protecting it. Weissmann was protecting it. And that is the big why. What’s she got on these people? Are they financial ties? They had to be aware of this, especially the counter-intelligence units. We know it was hacked into by foreign intelligence services because it was just hanging out there. Hillary Clinton was running a secret server outside the Department of State for the purposes of laundering money through the criminal Clinton Foundation.”

Quite

I expect others are like myself, watching disbelievingly as the American Illiberal Establishment turns on their elected leader and themselves.
The extraordinary 'Dodgy Dossier' on Trump must surely be the highwater, or low water, mark of the Neocons.
In the meantime the water remains deep, murky, dark and dangerous.
I will breathe easier once the swamp is drained.
In the meantime, to those who disparage Trump, I pose just one question, 'Have you really considered the alternatives?'

'.......The number one foreign policy priority of the CIA over the last four to five years has been the proxy war they're waging in Syria to remove Bashar Al Assad - and Hillary Clinton was quite critical of Obama for constraining them. She wanted to escalate that war to unleash the CIA, to impose a no-fly zone in Syria to confront Russia, whereas Trump took the exact opposite position. He said we have no business in Syria trying to change the government, we ought to let the Russia and Assad go free and killing ISIS and Al Quaeda and whoever else they want to kill.
He [Trump] was a threat to the CIA's primary institutional priority of regime change in Syria. Beyond that, Clinton wanted a much more confrontational and belligerent posture towards Moscow, which the CIA has been acrimonious with for decades, whereas Trump wanted better relations. They viewed Trump as a threat to their institutional pre-eminence to their ability to get their agenda imposed on Washington.
What you're seeing is actually quite dangerous. There really is at this point obvious open warefare between this un-elected, but very powerful faction that resides in Washington and sees Presidents come and go - on the one hand, and the person that the American democracy elected to be elected on the other. There's clearly extreme conflict and subversion taking place. '

Neat dissection of Europe's ongoing policy folly, and how the banksters continue to take the citizens of Europe for mugs with the help of their political friends.
....Gee, whatever happened to bail-ins putting the bank’s salvation primarily in the hands of share-holders, bond-holders and major depositors? Look’s like the government still believes general taxpayers should front the biggest wad. So, you’ll be glad to know that, even in Italy, the principles of saving too-big-to-fail banks at the start of the Great Recession are still largely in play. The costs of failing capitalists shall be largely socialized upon the poorer parts of the population because their citizens have happily allowed banks to remain too big to fail.

Today, Jan 1st, and the Maltese take over the presidency of the EU.
I'm not sure history will reflect so kindly on their alliance with Juncker as it does on their heroic resistance to Germany in WW11, and which earned the island nation the George Cross for valour.
How times change, and not for the better.
Brexit cannot come soon enough.

Britain cannot expect a better relationship with the European Union than it currently has once it leaves the bloc, incoming EU president Malta said on Friday, signalling a tough stance in looming Brexit negotiations.

Use it or lose it.

The very great ZeroHedge blog has excelled even itself through 2016 in unearthing the real news and machinations of the establishment, the so-called 'liberal elite'.
Of course they are nothing of the kind. They are just a bunch of self-entitled conmen who have taken the controls and refuse to relent even when democratic votes go against them.
And so they have taken the concept of fake news and thrown it at all and any who dare expose their mis-rule.
Heading into 2017 the threat to our liberty is very real..
I cannot recommend highly enough their 2016 wrap, notably the top 20 articles of the year, each of which reveals the rotten core of our current political system and those at the helm.

"....As always, we thank all of our readers for making this website - which has never seen one dollar of outside funding and has never spent one dollar on marketing - a small (or not so small) part of your daily routine. Which also brings us to another amusing topic: that of fake news, and something we - and others who do not comply with the established narrative - have been accused of. While we find the narrative of fake news laughable, after all every single article in this website is backed by facts and links to outside sources, we find it a dangerous development, and very slippery slope, that the entire developed world - certainly the US with Obama's recent passage of the "Countering Disinformation And Propaganda Act" into law - is pushing for what is, when stripped of fancy jargon, is internet censorship under the guise of protecting the average person from "dangerous, fake information." Vlad, not the bogeyman large swathes of the media would have us believe.
Which begs the question, 'Why would they portray him as such?'
The answer must lie in the question posed by every detective at the scene of the crime, 'Who benefits?'
So - who benefits from the continued portrayal of Putin, and his Russia, as an evil, warmongering threat?
Why, those whose prosper from funding and arming our response, that's who.

The EU is gathering the young into a 'Solidarity Corps'. Deeply disturbing echoes of the brainwashing of children in George Orwells 1984...

Children and Brainwashing
In 1984 the party is constantly brainwashing the people of Oceania. They are trying to make them believe that the party is wonderful, that Big Brother is amazing and that everyone should love, and be loyal, only to the party. The way the party brainwashes people is quite effective. They start young, the spies, the youth leagues, these are all ways for them to get to children, to get them on their side, to turn them into obedient little party members. The Spies reminds me a great deal of the Hi**er Youth. They have the same philosophy, grab them when they're young and impressionable, and then stuff them so full of propaganda that they believe what ever you tell them.

You see the effects of this childhood brainwashing in Julia. She has been subjected to the party's propaganda all of her life and in some ways she is far more immune to it than Winston, but in other ways she believes just what they want her to. Julia says that if you follow the important rules, go to the rallies and marches and such, you can break the little rules without worrying too much. Winston on the other hand, before he met Julia, would just as soon skip his evening at the community centre as go and be an obedient party member. However Julia doesn't seem to have a problem with the way the party changes the past. How really there is no concrete past only a constantly changing present. She seems to think it is inevitable and nothing particularly important, where as Winston is terrified by it.

There are other reasons for having organizations like the spies. When the party gathers children into groups like the spies they are creating a network of miniature thought police. Once they have been taught to believe the party knows all they are no longer loyal to anyone but them. Children will willingly denounce their family members to the thought police. That is the ultimate horror to have your own children betray you.

Register now to access opportunities as soon as they're available. The European Solidarity Corps will provide new opportunities for young Europeans to engage in solidarity activities across Europe.

The very clever maps that sums up the US election. The clusters are where Clinton won the county votes.

America is sharply divided - the urban Hillary fans clustered on the East and West coasts, and the heartland of America, disparagingly labelled the 'flyover states' and where the 'deplorables live. These are the guys who have been left behind by globalisation and so-called liberal agenda.
Tellingly the so called 'elite' areas also control the key areas, and hence all the power levers, of American life:
New York and the money of Wall Street
Washington DC and the political power
Seattle and the internet and computing of Microsoft et al.
California with the celebrity factor
Mainstream media lives in these bubble communities, self-referencing and echoing the liberal agenda. The lack of communication explains the continued denial and rejection of the election outcome.

Now, if only there was a solution that solved both unfunded pensions and the funding for infrastructure...

Underfunded government pensions to the tune of $1.3 trillion, with a gap that just can’t be filled, is the ticking time bomb facing the US economy which faces dramatic cuts in public services - and potentially riots reminiscent of Athens six years ago - according to former Federal Reserve advisor, and President of Money Strong, Danielle DiMartino Booth.

As she picks apart the danger signs with the US on the precipice of recession, it’s the impending pensions crisis that keeps her awake at night, sharing the gloomy sentiment laid out in an extensive March 2016 Citi report titled "The coming pensions crisis."
