Just wanted to pass this along. What you’re looking at is a Kenda Vezda UHP Max+ 305/35/18 summer performance tire. This tire costs half as much as the Nitto drag radials—hell, half the cost of any drag radial on the market. The tire on the right in the pic is a Nitto 555 275/35/18, and I can break that loose at will in first or second gear.
Enter the Kenda. First drive—left the tire shop to check the alignment and turned around in a Burger King parking lot. I rolled out onto Brookpark in second gear at about 2 mph and clutch-kicked it at five grand, thinking I was about to light it up Mustang-style. With the Nittos, that would’ve been a long, squirmy, smoke show. But this Kenda? It barked—and then it just dug.
Then it started to rain. Nick and I took the long way to Brunswick to outrun the six inches of rain that dumped on Brookpark and Parma in no time flat. I stopped at the highway on-ramp and, in true hillbilly fashion, side-stepped the clutch with evil intent. These tires spun maybe fifteen feet before hitting the limiter—and I wasn’t even ready for it.
Long story short? These tars hoooook.
Back to the rain—heading back north, we got caught in a full-on downpour. These things didn’t feel sketchy at all. They cut through that river of water on the freeway like it wasn’t even there. Got back on Brookpark and thought I’d play again—hammered second gear in the wet. Nope. Still biting.
Best cheap grippy tire I’ve tried. Looks like I’m gonna need that 150 shot just to get the McMustang back to pedestrian-endangering status!
