A little throwback story... "1991: I was working as a music journalist when my mate Duncan at Ninja Tune sent me a DJ Food album. They'd sampled Grant Green's 'Sookie Sookie.' I rang Duncan: 'If you put a rap on this, it would be really out there.' He asked for my rapper. I said no. Next thing I know, Matt Black calls: 'Why don't you do it yourself?' That became NW1's 'The Band Played the Boogie' - the template for everything that followed. Sometimes the biggest opportunities come from saying 'no' to the small ones.
