Pup and a waterfall dip

I didn't really think this would be a big one for Frida, but she really freaked out when I first walked her down to the waterfall, I'm guessing the noise was a but much(?) but I suppose, you can never tell what might upset a pup. She wasn't happy to settle while I swam so I popped her back in the car and she promptly fell asleep, so I nipped back for a quick 2 minute dip and was treated to a wee rainbow.

Then I looked in my kit bag and realised I had 3 left gloves. Was I ready for a glove free swim? Not really, but I managed it, so I guess that's summer now 🤭

Swindog's Sunday breakfast dip.

The only way to pretend that you are a lonely traveller at this time of year is to get out stupid early 🙃

So Frida and I were out the house, breakfast in the bag, by 6am this morning and off to the Big Gates. We had a cracking couple of hours doing a bit of a training walk (she's starting to get the idea), a dip for me followed by a lovely, circle of life moment where I ate my breakfast while feeding the midgies theirs. It's a stunning spot but I don't envy the campers their smidge bill.

Frida behaved beautifully, tided to the and treating my dryrobe like a picnic blanket. She enjoyed a quick paddle - I'm thinking about getting her a buoyancy aid if anyone has any experience/ recommendations - and is now totally exhausted.

Found some naughty little squirrels' stash of empties, so brought some of that home to the recycling - I only had one spare bag and it'll take a few trips to get it all.

Disaster at the last minute when I realised that my coffee hadn't been sealed properly and there was none left for me...

Beathag got a bit dehydrated...

The garden refit has taken a bit longer than I originally thought, but Beathag the barrel is back in her spot, now with added patio (and she's level!!!). Sadly, she's dried out a bit.

Any guesses how long it's going to take to fill her up again?

SwimDog's first swim trip!

Not really, swim dog is only 11 weeks old and hasn't had her last set of jags yet. This was more of a socialisation trip, just to introduce her to the beach, my swim gear and the whole routine of going for a loch dip. She behaved so well, and just settled beautifully on my and waited for me to have the quickest of all possible dips.

Quick because I've not been swimming much this year and I'm not acclimatised, along with a slight dose of 'leaving my baby on the beach' anxiety and a slight terror of fashion failure, as apparently I broke the zip on my swim suit and now it's all very loose and breezy up top 😬...

Now, do I go full twee, daft-dog mam and get a matching doggy Dryrobe?

Frida!

9 weeks old, super cute and super feisty. She fits in rather well with the strong-willed women in the house tbh. Im so happy with how her training is going. She's a fast learner and has really improved her manners this week already. I've been binging on YT for the last few weeks, which has been amazing, but I'll need to get her signed up for local classes as soon as her next set of shots are done. She's super chilled though on our doggybag walks, so looking forward to walking her properly 😍

Deinfluencer time!

I've got 5 days until one of these gorgeous fluffy potatoes comes home with me!

What don't I need to buy?!

I have a list of essentials, but there is a lot of noise in the 'stuff for dogs' space. What did you buy that was actually not useful? Or pretty but pointless? Gorgeous but fell apart after 5 minutes? Spill all the tea lovies

Boring but important 😂

Trench warfare has been (mostly) concluded!

I've got until the end of the month to get my garden back to safe and usable, because after that it's puppy time!

I very been slightly held up but the ridiculous amount of work that goes into doing the job properly, as well as a slight dose of a suspected broken rib, but the water has drained, the drainage pipes are in and I can continue to turn my old mud patch into a usable, fun garden for my kid and our new fluffball.

Seriously though, if you buy a newbuild home, get the builders to come back and put in the agreed drainage solution *before* they go out of business 🙄 or (if you're cheap and stubborn like me), you'll end up doing it yourself.
