Don your mask for the treasure hunt because we're discussing J.A. Bayona's The Orphanage (2007) along with Spanish horror scholar (and returning guest) Shelagh Rowan-Legg.

Join us as we praise Belén Rueda's lead performance, the film's unsettling set pieces, its curious lack of Spanish cultural signifiers, and speculate on the film's use of HIV in the plot.

Plus: the film's obsession with jaws, Joe's suspicions of Carlos' infidelity, and multiple interpretations of the bittersweet ending!

Today on Patreon: Get rid of those clothes and get ready for the because we're discussing Mercedes Bryce Morgan's erotic(ish) thriller Bone Lake (2025)!
Join us as we go all in on the foursome that populates this fun little film, with Trace praising MVP Maddie Hasson (Malignant) and Joe gushing (haha) over the gory climax.
Plus: yearning for more nudity, the difference between "erotic" and "titillating," and why it's okay for a movie to just be fun.

Today on Micro Qu**rs: We're headed to the cottage for some R'n'R (that would be r**e/revenge) with screenwriter Stuart Morse and director Steven R. Monroe's 2010 remake of I Spit on Your Grave for its 15th anniversary.

Beyond asking who is this for and why are there no female creatives involved (!), we're digging into the revenge, questioning the gaze, and talking about q***r actor Daniel Franzese dropping his voice to play redneck.

Wipe that popcorn off your jacket and take the longest shower ever because we're discussing the q***r-leaning throuple at the center of Stephen Chiodo's cult classic KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE (1988)! Tagging in for the conversation is Dead Ringers Podcast co-host Paul Farrell!

Join us as we dive into this plot-lite gem of a film, thanks to some impressively resourceful practical effects and set design, courtesy of the Chiodo Bros.. It's a gateway horror film that aims to entertain, and at that it most definitely does.

Plus: The Dickies' super fun theme song, "Klown mayhem," debating the usefulness of Debbie and why Trace can't stop laughing over the line "big B***S!"

Today on Patreon: Put on your s*xy underwear and beware of boars because we're back in Venus, Oregon to discuss Renny Harlin's long overdue sequel, The Strangers: Chapter 2 (2025).

Billed as Harlin's Rambo 2, the middle entry of the 4.5 hour trilogy is essentially one long chase sequence as Maya (Madelaine Petsch) tries to avoid The Strangers and gets everyone she encounters killed.

Plus: hospital horror, fish eyed panic attacks, underwhelming flashbacks, and yet more speculation about when the finale will appear and what it will look like.

Fingers crossed it's three pigs in a trenchcoat!

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, we're revisiting David Cronenberg's classic "s*x slug" film, Shivers (1975). C/W: s*xual assault, statutory r**e
An isolated Montreal apartment complex comes under attack by a parasitic aphrodisiac venereal disease in the famed Canada director's genre debut, which a) nearly went to Hollywood and b) was publicly attacked because the movie was funded by taxpayer dollars.
Plus: searching for a protagonist; low-fi FX that hold up; the nonchalant acceptance of the r**e of a minor; threatening q***r s*xuality; and an all-timer ending in the pool!

Who's ready for the arrival of Mason Verger (Michael Pitt)?

As HANNIBAL approaches the end game of S02, Bryan Fuller and co. bring Mason and Margot's story to the forefront, including a trippy set of dual s*x scenes. Suffice it to say, we're into it, whole "hog."

Plus: the gay s**t goes into hyperdrive and Will's burgeoning serial killer skills claim not one, but two victims, including Freddie Lounds and future READY OR NOT star Mark O’Brien as Randall Tier.

Strap on your ice skates and check your makeup because we're talking Gus Van Sant's whip-smart satire TO DIE FOR for its 30th anniversary! After all, you're not anybody in America unless you're on TV, right?

Join us as we heap all the praise on Nicole Kidman's Golden Globe-winning (but not Oscar-nominated) performance as narcissistic sociopath Suzanne Stone before going all in on the film's troubled road to release (so many test screenings!).

Plus: Danny Elfman's jarring score, baby Joaquin Phoenix (in one of his best roles), assassin David Cronenberg and why there's no point in doing anything if nobody's watching.

Today on Patreon: Real men make sacrifices and that's what Trace did for this episode: he suffered through Justin Tipping's testosterone-laden sports horror feature, HIM (2025).

Starring a blank Tyriq Withers and a really solid Marlon Wayans, the football film has great visuals (courtesy of cinematographer Kira Kelly), but not much else.

Plus: a steam room horror set piece, an unsurprising reveal, a frustrating day by day narrative structure, and a Grand Guignol finale that feels out of character.

Leave your blood, sweat and Beyoncé/Orville Peck homages on the field...along with this mess.

Today on Patreon: It's finale time as we wrap up our coverage of S01 of Noah Hawley's ALIEN: EARTH.

Written by Hawley & Migizi Pensoneau, "The Real Monsters" establishes a new world order as Marcy (formerly Wendy) finally takes control of Neverland and shows Boy Kavalier who's in charge.

Plus: a smackdown between Kirsh and Morrow; the (disappointing?) reveal of what The Plant does; a new body for The Eye; and our hopes for season two.

Today on the Main Feed: We're opening the Patreon vault to discuss The Strangers: Chapter 1 (2024) in anticipation of Renny Harlin's long overdue sequel, Chapter 2.

We have a lot of thoughts about this first film, its negative reception, and how to evaluate what is really 1/3 of a single film.

Plus: Rural horror, comparisons to the Fear Street trilogy and the Cabin Fever remake, groaning at inhaler drama, debates about character stupidity, our favorite jump scares, and the perils of late night fridge repair.
