New album release from Seraphim Six Productions!
Eternal Mystery – Hymns for the Feast of the Annunciation.
Available for instant audio download or CD preorder at www.seraphim6.com
The album includes 40 tracks featuring chant melodies from the Kievan, Russo-Greek, Serbian, Bulgarian, and Byzantine traditions in settings by David Anderson, Vladimir Morosan, Peter Drobac, Frederick Karam and Anne Schoepp. It begins with the lovely Troparion for the Feast by Nazo Zakkak, and then in the Matins Canon, we hear the entire conversation between the Archangel and the Theotokos, with each ode followed by the soaring Katavasia of the Thetokos by Kurt Sander. Other compositions are two new settings of the Magnification by Anne Schoepp, (a two-part and a four-part setting), and a long-time favorite, the Greek melody for To You our Queen beautifully harmonized by Frederick Karam. Near the end, the hauntingly beautiful Serbian melody for The Lord has Chosen Zion by Peter Drobac develops into a full harmonization Anne Schoepp for the communion hymn.

Akathist: Glory to God for All things
This Akathist, also called the Akathist of Thanksgiving, was composed by Protopresbyter Gregory Petrov in prison camp shortly before his death in 1940. His work is a comprehensive celebration of Gods glory as found throughout a broad examination of life and in the smallest things and most mundane circumstances. It is a celebration as understood perhaps best by one from whom all beauty was seemingly denied, a song of praise from amidst the most terrible sufferings. The title is taken from the words of St. John Chrysostom as he was dying in exile.

Both sheet music and recording available.

Wishing you all a blessed Feast.

The feast of the Nativity of the Theotokos, therefore, is a glorification of Mary’s birth, of Mary herself and of her righteous parents. It is a celebration as well of the very first preparation of the salvation of the world.

Still need music for Pentecost?

“When the most High came down and confused the tongues, He divided the nations; But when he distributed the tongues of fire He called all to unity. Therefore, with one voice, we glorify the All-holy Spirit!”
