The non-baseball stuff | Last weekend we traveled to baseball events in Boiling Springs, NC to Spartanburg, SC and eventually to Greenville, SC.

There were rainouts, long hot days at the ball-field, 3 different hotels for 3 different nights, but it was awesome. I love the uncertainty of it all with travel baseball. You have a schedule, but it changes bc of weather or other things beyond my control.

The photos are in order. We started just 3 of us at a hotel in Shelby, NC and stopped off at the strangest Chick-fil-A ever - operating out of an almost out of business mall. But man was it photogenic.

The next day took us to Spartanburg and we had time so stopped off to see the BMW Zentrum Museum with some amazing old and new models.

Then, I got up early Saturday morning and drove back to Athens to pick up Jennifer who had been out of the country and drove back up to Greenville.

We now had four of us. GVL is such a great city and the photos help prove the beauty and provide a snapshot of the time we had together.

Thank you baseball for giving us the opportunities to hang out in hotels and see new places together.

One of my hang ups in photography are crooked photos. But I left this first photo crooked because I’d set up a timer to get both of us and this is how it looked.

The last 3 posts I’ve made have chronicled our summer night out in Athens, Ga. So if you’re up for reading I’m going to talk about a few of these photos.

Photos 2 & 3: Creature Comforts. I just captured what we saw as we were walking down Hancock.

Photo 4: Jennifer posed in front of that alley where back in the 90s we’d sneak down it to get into the Uptown Lounge side door to bypass the ID check 😏

Photo 5: The Morton Theatre is photogenic from any angle

Photos 6 & 7: A painted mural that is beautiful, but has some unfortunate graffiti. The first one is how it looks, the next one is after I spent way too much time in Photoshop removing the damage. We’re going to print this big and hang it in our home.

Photos 13-18: Athens when the students are gone in a mid week night in summer…not much going on. Not sure if I’ve ever seen the Georgia Theatre with no marquee.

Feels like it’s been nonstop sports since 2025 began, but it’s nice to catch a break from the grind of baseball, and work.

I love photography. I like shooting sports the most, but it doesn’t matter if it’s a hazy, hot game in late June or an upscale neighborhood hotel - the act of trying to compose a photograph and capturing that moment for myself or others to look back on is why I take my camera everywhere.

My wife and I spent a night at recently and here’s a few favorite images from this luxury boutique inn. Even the kids stopped by the next morning.

All the rooms are unique, there’s fully stocked fridges in the lounge (my favorite room), and even though I don’t know much about interior design - this place has “it”.

I wrote posts on the first and second half of the Oconee County High School Warrior Baseball season. So now that school is out for the summer and the baseball playoffs concluded last week, I wanted to finish my 3-part series. Hope you enjoy.

The 2025 Oconee County Warrior baseball team compiled a 25-9 record and made it to the sweet sixteen of the GHSA state playoffs. I documented the run with photos and share some of my favorite images I took and the meaning behind those photos.
