Serikali inatekeleza mipango ya kuongeza meli tatu zaidi za kusafirisha bidhaa za mafuta kutoka kwenye ghala la mafuta la Kisumu hadi kwenye nchi za eneo la maziwa makuu katika hatua inayonuiwa kuimarisha usafirishaji wa bidhaa hizo kupitia majini. Tayari meli pekee iliyoko kwenye kituo hicho cha Kisumu inasafirisha mafuta kutoka kweye ghala lhilo hadi kwenye kituo cha Mahathi huko Entebbe jijini Uganda mara moja kwa wiki ambapo inasafirisha lita milioni- 4.4 za bidhaa za mafuta na hivyo kupunguza utegemeaji usafiri wa barabarani.
