Check out Michael G. Michlovic’s An Archaeology of the Red River of the North! This book provides an expansive survey of the indigenous cultures and peoples in the region of the Red River from the recession of Lake Agassiz around 9000 years ago to the intrusion of the Europeans.

It's an insightful and much needed addition to the archaeology of North Dakota, western Minnesota, and Manitoba. And it's a free download or a low cost paperback!

It's new book day at the The Digital Press at the University of North Dakota:

Check out Big Pandemic on the Prairie: The Spanish Flu in North Dakota by Chris Price. It's an engaging and well-researched study of how North Dakota communities, politicians, and institutions responded to the deadliest pandemic of the 20th century. It not only tells some surprising stories about North Dakota's reaction to the Spanish Flu, but also offers some revealing insights to how we responded to the COVID-19 pandemic in the 21st century.

Download it for free here or grab a $15 paperback to support the work of the Digital Press:
