Marketing Geeks - The Origin Story
A LONG TIME AGO, Justin Womack and Andros Sturgeon were mere everyday people. We weren’t the marketing geek superstar hosts that you know today. It’s difficult to recall back to that time and remember what it was like. Things have changed so fast. I mean, back then we could go out in public and we were just run of the mill humans. Now, we are so famous that people actually recognize us just from our voices. Whether we’re at a coffee shop or walking around the town, the Marketing Geeks fans and haters come out in force to let us know how awesome and terrible of a job we are doing. The life of a midcard podcaster.
So, how did this brilliant show start anyways? Was there some inspirational sign that drove us to follow our divinely earth mission? Well, it was close to that. Back in June 2018, as I said a long, long time back, I had just become a new father. If you don’t know who’s writing this, this is the voice of Justin Womack, the smart geek. So, in late May, my wife and I had welcomed a new baby boy into the world. Marketing Geeks was born on the day he turned one month old. Rather than spending all of my waking hours with the baby that day, I somehow finagled myself away to the office where the legendary first recording of Marketing Geeks took place.
It’s a bit of a blur, but Andros had asked whether we should try this whole podcast thing out. I believe I responded with a lackluster “sure” and with that, we were off to the races. Marketing Geeks was born out of that deep and profound conversation. The depth of our personalities and philosophical undertakings show themselves in each of the episodes of the show.
Marketing Geeks has undergone many changes, we’ve dealt with the addition and departure of a host, we’ve started experimented with ads, and we even changed our theme music at some point.
