BROKENNESS!
It's ok to "feel some kind of way" about it
Because how you feel IN it is real!
Acknowledging and being honest about how you feel then giving yourself permission to feel what you feel is the first step in beginning to heal!
Certain seasons of brokenness leave us with some strong emotions. Our experiences are personal and our emotions behind those experiences are valid! They are real!
God gave us our emotions; we are supposed to "feel".
Even Jesus FELT emotions, He felt joy
(John 15:10-11). He wept (John 11:33-35), He felt anger (Matthew 23:33), He felt frustration (Matthew 17:14-20), He experienced the loneliness of ministry, and felt the deep hurt eventhough it was only for a moment, when He felt abandoned by His Father
(Matthew 27:46)...
Since Jesus FELT His feelings, we are without a doubt, permitted to feel ours.
No one should tell us that we shouldn't "feel" one way or the other about whatever it is that causes us to feel feelings.
The key is to identify that/those feelings. Name them. Discover the "why" for them... "Why does that make me so mad? or "Why does that hurt so bad? "Why do I feel like this when this is said?" Why did this situation trigger these emotions?"
It's TRUE that something or someone hurt us and again, it's also TRUE that we have permission to experience the feelings we have about that/ those persons and that/those situations...
HOWEVER!!!
Our feelings are like the "Service Engine Soon" light in our cars... they tend to come on when something needs attention and to warn us that we need to spend some time with the only ONE that knows what we need to heal in our broken seasons.
We do feel some kind of emotions.
The feelings we identify about whatever it is or was that hurt us is true...
BUT what feels true emotionally is not always the truth.
Our emotions can change...
So we have to be careful not to allow our emotions to be the authority in determing "our truth", which is soley based on our own experiences!
For the believer the conclusion, "This is MY truth!" is a cause for concern...
Especially since, your "truth" can change depending on how you feel.
BUT...
Real TRUTH has nothing to do with how you feel and (thankfully). And real TRUTH never changes!
Let it be true that you felt what you felt...
But friend you in and of yourself, DO NOT HAVE A TRUTH that is ALWAYS true!!
When you are a believer in Christ, He IS the only TRUTH that is ALWAYS true!
"I am the way, the TRUTH and the light...!"
(John 14:6)
"Sanctify them with the truth. Your word is the truth."
(John 17:17)
The only TRUTH we have is Jesus, The Whole TRUTH!
His Word is the TRUTH and it is the real TRUTH that sets the standard for living in TRUTH.
His TRUTH never changes! You can ALWAYS depend on it! It is the most faithful! And you can ALWAYS be the same TRUTH forever and ever, before, now and later...
JESUS IS FAITHFUL!
His love NEVER changes, no matter what!
That's my favorite adjective in describing who He is to me...
That's the BREAKTHROUGH I am blessed to experience in EVERY season of BROKENNESS.
