You can’t control when a platform decides to shake the snow globe. ❄️

But you can design a media plan that doesn’t collapse every time it happens; one that’s grounded in your customers and flexible enough to adapt when the rules change (again).

Think ecosystem, not silver bullet: social, email, search, and in-person touchpoints all doing their part so your business isn’t at the mercy of a single channel.

At Swell, we help you map out a media plan that actually fits your size, budget, and goals, so you can stay focused on what you do best!

🤖 AI isn’t the differentiator. How well you know your people is.

As generative tools continue to rise, the gap between good and great is human insight + perspective.

AI can help you draft, organize, and move faster. But your lived experience, judgment, and point of view are what turn “content” into communication.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the new tools, you don’t have to compete on being the most high-tech. Compete on being the most you; the most observant, the most thoughtful, the most tuned in to the humans you serve.

That’s the part no one else (and no tool) can copy.

🎯 First things first: You don’t have to be everywhere. Pick 1–2 places where your customers actually spend time (maybe that’s Instagram, LinkedIn, or email) and show up there on purpose. Scattered energy across six platforms will burn you out way faster than a focused presence on two.

🎯 Second, talk like a human, not a billboard.
Share what you do, why you care, and how it fits into people’s real lives. Show the behind-the-scenes, answer the questions you get all the time, and let your actual voice come through. People can feel when you’re trying to sound like “a brand” instead of yourself.

🎯 Third, aim for consistency you can actually keep.
Remember consistency? It’s not just about posting schedule. In fact, you don’t need to post every day. You do need a rhythm you can stick with, like 2–3 posts a week and one email a month. It’s better to show up steadily over time than to sprint for a month and disappear.

If you’re just getting started, “simple, clear, and sustainable” will take you a lot farther than “perfect, polished, and overwhelming.”

“Google it” is quietly becoming “search it on TikTok / IG / YouTube.” 👀

53% of Gen Z say they go to TikTok, Reddit, or YouTube before Google when they’re looking for information.

Here are 4 things you can do to make your content more primed for discovery:

First, treat your titles and on-screen text like mini search queries.
Use the words your customers would actually type, not just clever slogans.

Second, answer specific questions.
“How to…,” “What to know before…,” “3 things I’d do if…” These formats travel really well in social search.

Next, think local and niche.
Use location tags, clear niches, and real-world context so you surface for the right people, not just more people.

Finally, connect it back to your ecosystem.
Social search is often the first touch. Your website, Google presence, newsletter, and in-person experience still need to back it up.

Google’s not going away (you still need a strong presence). But if your audience is searching on social platforms before they ever hit a browser bar, your content needs to be built for that reality.

As you think about 2026, you don’t have to start with overhauling everything.

Start by retiring these three myths. ⬇️

Myth 1: “More content = better marketing.”
Almost everyone has access to AI and templates. The feed is full. What stands out is relevance and clarity, not volume.

Myth 2: “Organic social is free.”
Algorithms, competition, and shifting attention mean “just posting” isn’t a strategy. Organic still matters, but it costs time, energy, and consistency. And it works best when it’s part of a broader ecosystem (email, search, offline community), not your only move.

Myth 3: “AI will replace human marketers.”
AI is already heavily shaping ad targeting, recommendations, and shopping journeys, especially for big platforms. But the brands winning with AI are pairing it with very human things: strong positioning, clear stories, and real understanding of their audience.

Reality: AI is the assist, not the vision. Tools help you move faster; your perspective decides where you’re going.

Start 2026 off by getting clearer on what actually works for your brand, your capacity, and your community. 💫

We say it often because it’s true. Your customers look at your online presence and do their research before they take the first leap to reach out. What does your brand say about you when you’re not talking?

When everything shut down in 2020, in-person events didn’t just “slow down.” They disappeared almost overnight while virtual exploded. 💥

Now, a few years out, we’ve seen the pendulum swing again. In-person attendance and event spending have largely bounced back to (and in some cases beyond) 2019 levels. And most people say they prefer in-person or hybrid over fully virtual.

But does that mean virtual has vanished? Not at all. Livestreams, replays, and remote access are now expectations.

In-person isn’t “back to normal.” It’s more intentional now. People leave the house for connection, access, and experiences they can’t get on a screen.

The most resilient event strategies are “both/and,” combining strong in-person design (community, serendipity, local energy) with digital layers that widen access and keep the relationship going long after everyone goes home.

You’ve been lied to. 🫢

“Be consistent” gets thrown around a lot in marketing… and usually translates to “post every day or you’re doing it wrong.” But that’s not what consistency really is. ❌

Consistency isn’t just a posting streak. It’s a recognizable voice, a steady visual identity, a clear message you return to again and again, and a cadence your team can actually sustain.

The goal isn’t to be everywhere all the time. The goal is to show up in a way your audience can count on and your team can maintain without burning out.

When we work with clients, a big part of the process is defining what consistency looks like for them; the channels, rhythm, and message that fit their brand and the people they serve.

We’re proud to work alongside mom-and-pop shops, family-run operations, and locally owned businesses who are Davids competing with Goliaths in their industries.

They go above and beyond for their customers, their teams, and their communities, creating jobs, fueling the local economy, and making our neighborhoods stronger and more connected.

The holidays are a big moment for small businesses. As you decide where to spend your money, every choice to shop small makes a difference. 🛍️

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Swell!

We’re grateful for the clients, collaborators, and community who make our work meaningful, and for all the creative, strategic, and just plain fun projects we get to bring to life together.

Here’s to time with your favorite people, a well-earned nap, and an extra slice of pie (or brisket …we don’t judge 😉).

People scroll fast.

Pattern interruption helps them stop. 🛑

It’s the moment something unexpected — a sound, angle, edit, or phrase — breaks the pattern their brain predicted.

That moment is gold. ✨

It gives your story a chance to breathe, your message a chance to land, and your audience a reason to care.

The key? Make the disruption intentional. Don’t be random for the sake of it. Be purposeful in how you earn attention.

⭐ Pattern interruption isn’t just about getting people to look. It’s about getting them to listen.
