⚡ TikTok remains a trendsetter. Raw, fast-moving, and where viral ideas are born. It does continue to face regulatory drama in the U.S., but it’s still a great place to forecast trends and experiment with less formal content.

We’ve all felt the frustration of being caught in an endless loop with a chatbot or pressing “0” again and again just to try and reach a real person. 🫠

That kind of automation saves companies time, but sometimes, it costs them something much bigger: trust, empathy, and the chance to connect with the people they’re serving.

Automation can be one of the best tools in your business toolkit for handling repetitive tasks and giving you back valuable time. It frees you to focus on strategy, creativity, and the work only you can do.

If we’re not careful though, automation can be a connection killer.

The challenge (and the opportunity) is finding balance: leaning into automation to save time and create consistency, while still making sure your clients, customers, and community feel seen and heard by you. Sometimes making the less efficient but more personal choice is the right move for your business.

The short answer is… not unless you choose to.

📍 Instagram’s new Friend Map (rolled out in August) puts you in control of location sharing. By default, it’s off. If you elect to turn it on, you can:

🔍 Decide who sees your location (Close Friends, specific people, or no one).
📴 Turn it off anytime, or block sharing in certain places.
🗺️ Explore posts from friends and creators at nearby spots.

If this feels familiar, it’s because the feature echoes Snapchat’s Snap Map or the location sharing you might already use on your phone. But it’s also reigniting conversations around privacy, safety, and who really benefits when location data sharing is made to be the norm.

We are all for connecting online, but personally, we’ll be keeping our location turned off for Instagram. How about you?

Which design are you most drawn to?

There are a lot of changes happening (always, it’s agency life) one of which is our rebrand. When I was choosing the name of my business back in late 2017, I could only find one Swell Media online, and they were in the U.K and specialized in audio production. I wanted the name for my media and marketing agency because to swell is to incrementally grow, transform, expand, and elevate.

In the beginning, I associated it with the ocean because the ocean is my place of creativity and to creatively recharge.

But if you’ve worked with us you know, we do not have a surfy vibe. 😂 We work insanely hard, have a very high standard for the kind of work we produce, and are hyper vigilant about the intent behind every action we take. My team is expected to defend every word and every element they choose— as there must be a reason for their choice. (The philosophy major in me)

So, I decided it was time to rebrand. I started the process at the beginning of the year and we’re still in the thick of it.

These three logo samples are the beginning of a direction, they are not finals. There are things I love about each of them, but I need a different perspective. If you have feedback, I’d love to hear it! You can drop a comment, DM or just vote.

Ready to stop wasting money on ads that don’t convert? 💰

Here are some best practices for setting up your ads in Meta:

🔹 Ensure your ad account is connected and your landing page is tagged in Google Tag Manager.
🔹 Set one clear objective: leads, sales, or traffic.
🔹 Craft copy and creatives that resonate with your ideal audience.
🔹 Use targeting to guide Meta, not restrict it. Avoid overly narrow age groups.
🔹 Turn off automatic creative adjustments unless you're testing.
🔹 Monitor performance live and refresh ads regularly.
🔹Assume every campaign is a test. Track, learn, optimize, repeat.
