Darkthrone - It Beckons Us All

This was the only Darkthrone studio album missing in the collection. Bought from De Pankraker at the Bacht’n De Vulle Moane / Alkerdeel / Beherit show yesterday.

I’m digging the latter era records (starting from Old Star) more and more.

Krallice and Dave Edwardson - LOÜM

Another demanding but rewarding Krallice album. Another album I haven’t spun in ages. Here Krallice team up with Dave Edwardson, Neurosis’ bassist.

I tended to listen to music with the goal of knowing it by heart. Now I just try to enjoy the music while it’s playing. Focus on the proces, not on the goal. And once you jump on a riff and just surf along on all the tempo changes, breaks and riff after riff after riff, it’s a wild ride!

Ihloosuhree - Slaven Der Ontbinding

The music of Ihloosuhree has matured immensely since the debut Analysis Paralysis (which I still hold in high regard). And “matured” doesn’t mean it lost its edge.

If you like your black metal dark and psychotic, you should listen to this album.

This also marks the first release on Al Ayn Records. Hopefully there are many more to come.

Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere

It took me a few spins to really get into this one. Following along with the lyrics helps. Listening to the Tales Of The Riff podcast with Paul helped as well.

This albums proves to be a very rewarding journey which I highly recommend.

Sick Of It All - Just Look Around

RIP Lou Koller. Lots of strength for his family and friends.

SOIA is one of the top five bands I’ve seen the most in my life. From big Stages (Graspop and the likes) to small stages (Lintfabriek). It’s also one of the very first bands I saw at the Midsummer Metal Meeting. I didn’t know them back then. I wasn’t immediately blown away but did go out and buy two CD’s the next week: Scratch The Surface and the self titled. Back then, having little to no money, you took into account how many tracks an album had to get your moneys worth. A bit of a disappointment that the s/t only lasted 11:45 or so 😅

Such a great band, such a great frontman, such a loss for the scene and the world.

Great rerelease on Reflections Records.

Yellow Eyes - Confusion Gate

First spin on vinyl. Bought it (and the companion Master’s Murmur) at their show in Gent last April.

It’s not an easy record but very rewarding in the end. It’s beyond me how you can create this kind of music.

Darkthrone - Pre-historic Metal

Another Darkthrone, another buy.

This is a pretty fun record with some of the hardest music parts they’ve released in years. Check out the barbaric thrash part in the title track if you don’t know what I mean.

Yellow Eyes - Master’s Murmur

A weird Yellow Eyes album which I didn’t like at first. Or maybe I didn’t really pay attention.

Most of this album is a sort dark, atmospheric dungeon synth with guitar, vocals and actual songs.

It’s a grower for sure!

Darkthrone - Plaguewielder

Continuing listening to this era of Darkthrone albums which I don’t know that well.
