This page is to help disseminate information to interested scholars, readers, and students. In 2012, after giving several papers about heresy in the works of Rebecca West, Zora Neale Hurston, Rebecca Goldstein, and James Wood at various cultural and religious studies conferences, Bernard Schweizer perceived the need for a Society that caters specifically to scholars and writers who are interested
in religiously subversive art. Sensing that a suitable venue for critics and practitioners of dissent does not yet exist, Schweizer quickly assembled a group of collaborators to bring the Society for Heresy Studies into existence. His call for interest was met by numerous and enthusiastic responders. Specifically, Revd. David Dickinson, novelist James Morrow, and critic James Wood were involved in the genesis of the Society from the beginning. Bernard Schweizer: Editor in Chief
