CARPE NOCTUM
In more sad news for the UK scene, Carpe Noctum - the longest-running goth club night in the north of England - has announced that it is ending as a regular event.

The club, which takes place at the Lending Room in Leeds, had two more events scheduled for the year - 2nd October, and 5th December.

In a statement announcing the December event, the promoters said: "And now, the end is near. This will be the final instalment of Carpe Noctum as a regular, ongoing event. We intend to go out with a bang.

Don't come to mourn, but to celebrate.

Times, bill and ticket details to be confirmed."

AlterViva Promotions have announced 'Electro Umbrella', a new Leeds showcase for local synth artists.

The first event will feature the captivating beats of Cheryl Holland, the darkly defiant disco of A Short Dark Stranger, the electroriotgrrl excellence of DOBERWOMAN and the sultry synthpop of Silk Circus.

Former Damned guitarist and keyboardist Roman Jugg returns to the stage this week.

Jugg, one of the key members during the band's gothic era of the ‘Phantasmagoria’ and ‘Anything’ albums, will be playing tracks from his back catalogue accompanied by a new band.

Nottingham-based doom-goth duo The Medea Project have announced details of an upcoming European tour, which begins in Rouen and ending in Coventry.

In a statement, the band said: "To say we are moved to finally be making this crossing would be an understatement. This music was always meant to be carried across borders, offered up in dark rooms to those who know what it is to grieve, to endure, to remain."

THE DEADINBURGH FESTIVAL
One of UK goth's newest and most anticipated festivals has announced that this year's event has been cancelled.

The Deadinburgh Festival took place last year for a highly successful opening event, but the promoters stated that the follow-up event, due to take place at La Belle Angele in Edinburgh on 10th & 11th July, would not now go ahead.

In a statement, the event said: "It comes with a heavy heart that we announce that unfortunately The Deadinburgh Festival 2026 has been cancelled. Tickets have already been refunded and we sincerely apologise to all the attendees and bands who purchased tickets and accommodation for the weekend.

We've tried to leave it as long as we can to see if sales would pick up and they unfortunately haven't.

There are many different factors that lead to low ticket sales such as clashing events and accommodation prices in Edinburgh being extraordinarily high, but we as a festival need to take some of that blame too. In hindsight there were things that we could've been done to help the events success, and for that, we are incredibly sorry.”

The band are supported by a wide range of special guests on various dates, including Social Youth Cult, Dawn Of Elysium, and Deathtrippers amongst many others.

Goth City Promotions have announced the lineup for the Re:Vamped Weekend 2026

Taking place over bank holiday weekend on Friday 29th & Saturday 30th May, the event celebrates the historic links between Bradford and the gothic and takes place in the Midland Hotel and the 1 in 12 Club.

On Friday 29th May, the Re:Vamped Masquerade Ball will take place in the French Ballroom at the Midland Hotel, featuring DJ Pyromancer (Flock) and a halftime performance by A Short Dark Stranger.

At noon on Saturday 30th May, the sixth World Dracula Day Lecture will take place and will be delivered by Matthew Cheeseman.

And from 5.30pm on Saturday 30th May at the 1 in 12 Club Social Youth Cult will headline the event supported by Art Gallery, Stock Image, and Verdant Rupture, alongside Orpheus (Monolith/Slimelight).

All proceeds go towards the Goth City Community Action Fund.

THE AWAKENING
South African darkwave band The Awakening have announced the cancellation of their UK tour, which was due to start on 31st March.

In a statement, singer Ashton Nyte stated that the tour had been cancelled due to an injury sustained at the airport travelling to the UK from the United States: "I spent a stressful day, mostly stuck on the runway in a plane waiting to take off from St. Louis to connect in Chicago, which was hit by bad weather. My plane never left St. Louis, my connection was missed, and during one of the chaotic times we had to board and deboard, I injured my back while moving luggage.”

The band had only recently changed the venue for their London show from the 500-capacity Camden Underworld, to the 300-capacity Nambucca on Holloway Road.
