Mental health is more than just self-care: it's a critical part of well-being that’s built on firm advocacy and community work.

When traditional healthcare is out of reach, nonprofits bridge the gap. Research from the Urban Institute shows these organizations are integral to community care, often providing a wider range of services—from mental health assessments to su***de prevention programs—than for-profit counterparts' range of services. These organizations champion holistic treatment to build healthier, more resilient communities.

Nonprofits have also served as anchors for stability during critical emergencies. Organizations like Project HOPE, StrongMinds, and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) / Doctors Without Borders have delivered prompt psychosocial services to address the needs of women, children, and families grappling with the aftermath of disasters. Their vital work forms the backbone of recovery; without them, communities would struggle to heal and rebuild their lives.

This , Smarter Good stands with mission-driven organizations who advocate for equitable well-being, especially in times of crisis. Swipe through to see what our team has learned from partnering with these incredible groups and how their work has reshaped the way we value mental health.

The leaders driving climate action are fueled by passion, but their missions are sustained by resilience. This reminds us that for change to last, it needs a strong operational core.

This is why our partnership with the Growald Climate Fund models a new approach to philanthropy. We move beyond the grant to build true organizational resilience, providing the structural support that transforms passionate missions into enduring institutions.

For 15 of their world-changing grantees, we act as partners in passion, providing the expert guidance they need to connect their vital work to a sustainable strategy. From Warsaw to Nairobi to Seoul, many are in their startup stages, but they are all proactively preparing to scale their operations and deepen their impact.

By offering continuous, strategic support, we help build a compelling case for their continued funding. This is how we empower leaders, future-proof their missions, and build organizations ready to grow.

When we strengthen the organizations fighting for our planet, we accelerate the mission for a more just, equitable, and fair world.

Are you and your partners still speaking the same language? Foundations, agencies, and donors who play a critical role in championing your cause may be navigating shifts in priorities and values. Understandably, ambiguity surrounding these changes can be a source of anxiety for your programs and fundraising goals.

A word of advice from our Strategic Language Guide: pair active outreaches with thoughtful language reframing to advance your mission.

Direct conversations are windows into how they talk about their impact. Whether it’s through a check-in email or a virtual call, openly speaking with your funders can inform you about their stylistic choices and how they communicate their values. Harnessing this knowledge can help you craft messages that resonate with your funders and sustain these relationships—while still staying authentic to your voice.

We’re your partners in strategic fundraising. Sign up for Smarter Good’s Strategic Language Guide to learn more: https://forms.gle/PsZE9qAM8ehd7EAF8

True peace is built from the ground up.

Around the world, nonprofits are partnering with local communities and uplifting grassroots movements to create peace that lasts. Organizations like the United Network of Young Peacebuilders empowers youth leaders to drive change in their homes; the Peace Foundation unites local stakeholders, faith leaders, and community members to build trust and dialogue; and Peace Direct stands with frontline peacebuilders, providing the resources and solidarity they need in tackling conflict.

Through this grassroots-movement, more diverse voices are included, trust is rebuilt, and dialogue between communities and authorities becomes possible—creating peacebuilding solutions that are not only more inclusive, but also built to last.

As we mark the International Day of Peace, we honor the vital role that nonprofit organizations play in strengthening communities and breaking cycles of conflict. Today, we are called to move beyond being passive witnesses and become advocates of peace

Our vision is clear: a just, equitable, and fair world. Corruption is the antithesis of this vision. It is a system designed to concentrate power and deny opportunity, perpetuating the very inequities our partners work to dismantle every single day.

Equity cannot be fought for while ignoring injustice. A fair future cannot be built on a corrupt foundation.

We see the nonprofit leaders, advocates, and front-line staff working tirelessly to break these cycles. Their work is the tangible pursuit of a better world. As their partner, we are committed to helping them build the robust operational and financial systems that serve as a bulwark against systemic vulnerabilities.

We stand firmly with all who champion integrity. The mission for a more just world demands it.

Passion comes naturally. So why do so many interview processes encourage it?

It often starts with good intentions. The enthusiastic email that mentions you’re looking for a “proactive self-starter.” The interview opening where you describe the culture as “highly collaborative.” Before you’ve even asked a question, you’ve given clues to the “right” answer.

This is “priming,” and it’s easy to do. By the time you ask about their work style, a candidate is conditioned to mirror your language, giving you a polished answer that may not reflect their true conviction.

Our People Partnership Team intentionally builds a different path. We create space for authenticity by asking neutral, behavior-based questions before describing the ideal culture. This simple but strategic shift doesn't just filter for skills; it reveals unfiltered passion and genuine alignment.

It’s how we ensure the people you hire aren’t just joining a company—they’re joining your cause.

This International Literacy Day, “Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era” serves as a reminder and a call to action to address the double marginalization of the digital divide and the learning crisis. In this age of connectivity, two-thirds of school-aged children remain offline, worsening the learning crisis that already affects 250 million children without basic literacy skills.

As learning poverty becomes a silent thief that kills dreams, the economic damage will soar to $10 trillion by 2030, projected to be marked by increased teenage pregnancies, crimes, and underemployment, and declining health and skilled workforce.

But here’s the spark — we could still rewrite the future of millions of children, and many nonprofits are making sure that’s on the way.

Remote communities in Africa are building schools and training centers with Sisters Rising Worldwide. In the US, they are expanding access to equitable STEM education for students of Silicon Valley Education Foundation and fostering lifelong learning through an inclusive knowledge hub with Alameda County Library Foundation. READ Global establishes local education ecosystems in South Asia by delivering early childhood programs, financial and digital literacy, and technical skills-building opportunities.

Each nonprofit may have its own identity and mission, but we form a collective. We at Smarter Good have front row seats to see their work and impact, and have been fortunate to participate in this collective mission of promoting education with no boundaries.

Let’s get it DONE. Not tomorrow. Not next year. TODAY.

It takes a powerful idea, a passionate team, and the resources to turn vision into reality.

We see the nonprofit leaders wearing multiple hats, the fundraisers building communities of support, and the program staff working tirelessly on the front lines. We also see the immense strain they are under—from donor fatigue to the threat of burnout.

On this , we celebrate the power and heart of charitable giving. Every grant and donation is a direct investment in these passionate teams, providing the fuel that transforms their hard work into life-altering outcomes on the ground. It's the operational backbone that empowers them to build resilient communities, drive systemic change, and turn their vision for a better world into a reality.

Today, we honor this incredible partnership between generosity and action.
