: Innovation doesn't happen in a vacuum. It requires investment in people and ideas.

In a significant move, sixteen U.S. states are suing to block federal funding cuts that threaten science and STEM diversity programs. The lawsuit argues that these cuts jeopardize American innovation and its leadership on the global stage.

This legal battle underscores the critical intersection of policy, advocacy, and social progress. It's a powerful reminder that protecting future innovation often means defending equitable access to education and opportunity today.

: What does it mean to go all-in on solving the world's biggest problems?

Bill Gates has announced a monumental plan to give away nearly his entire fortune, accelerating the timeline to eradicate diseases and alleviate global poverty. The goal is to deploy these funds and close the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation by December 31, 2045.

This "big bet" represents a seismic shift in high-stakes philanthropy, concentrating massive resources on a definite timeline. It challenges the traditional perpetuity model of foundations and raises important questions about speed, scale, and impact in the sector.

The world of philanthropy is navigating a period of intense dynamism and tension. While big, ambitious bets are being made to tackle global challenges, the sector is also facing policy fights that could reshape the future of giving. This is turning friction into fuel for social impact.

A prime example of this is happening right now. In a significant move, 16 U.S. states are suing to block federal funding cuts that threaten science and STEM diversity programs. The lawsuit, filed in late May, argues that these cuts jeopardize American innovation and its leadership on the global stage. As of today, the legal battle is ongoing, highlighting the critical intersection of policy, advocacy, and social progress.

Our latest SG Research Desk unpacks these undercurrents. We're seeing a push and pull between established models and urgent new strategies, all while funders grapple with how to stay relevant and effective. Amid the uncertainty, one thing is clear: strong ideas and bold leadership are what will drive progress.

Navigating these complex tensions requires sharp strategy and clear insight. If your organization is working to turn friction into momentum, let's connect and explore how our research can support your mission.

Stay with us as we explore the major moves shaping the future of social impact.

We are the ones who will build the future. ✨

At our recent townhall, we welcomed our new CEO, Lina M. Cañon, and aligned on a powerful, shared vision for our next chapter. This isn’t just a top-down plan; it's a collective responsibility we are all excited to carry forward together.

Our shared vision is one that is "cross-sector, intergenerational, multicultural". Together, we'll constantly ask, "who's not here?" to ensure we're bringing everyone to the table.

Here’s how we’re stepping up, together:

🚀 We’re thinking bigger. We're challenging ourselves to be forward-thinking with our clients, asking: what will our impact look like in 3-5 years?

💡 We’re leading with innovation. We are the experts and innovators who will solve our sector’s challenges. Our commitment is to stay curious, ask the right questions, and keep creating.

💥 We’re multiplying our impact. We know the sector needs us in a higher volume, and we’re ready to be brave and purposeful to meet that need.

The message was clear: We all belong in the room where it happens. With the tone set by Lina, we are energized and ready to take on this shared responsibility.

Let’s get to work. 🤝
