Have you ever been on a roundabout journey to get to what feels right in front of you😮‍💨

Deep question I know.

But I’m lighting this page back up. Not that my creativity hasn’t been lit but it’s been a bumpy few years.

Spare you the details but here’s what I’m excited about as I head forward:

🩷 funding my vision for producing my own projects by becoming a real estate investor
🩷exploring my new hometown to find opportunities to unite with other creatives
🩷share more about the finished animated musical pilot of “Firenze’s Light” and eventual series
🩷Sing and write and write and sing
🩷continue the animated Halloween musical screenplay I’ve been working on for three years.
🩷working with local teens on music, performance, on-stage skills
🩷sharing the beauty that is creativity

If you want to see inside this as I keep plugging away…follow me, comment…put some wind in this sails that there’s somebody out there who needs to hear my stories.

I almost skipped it this year, but I felt you bugging me.

You’ve been out of your body for 4 years, but I feel you around.

We do this thing every Father’s Day…do a 10k in your honor. I don’t know who thought it was gonna be fun😅 but maybe when you signed up for those runs when I was a kid, you knew it wouldn’t be fun either.

Maybe it was your chance to suffer a little and learn more about yourself.

Did you spend the first 3000 meters looking for ways to quit the race and go home to watch football?

When the endorphins hit, did you realize the discomfort of running was something that could just be accepted? That other people who suffered in life couldn’t just quit…they had no choice but to keep going?

When your legs started cramping a bit at 7000 meters, did you get a little pi**ed and find another gear?

Maybe you trudged the last 1000 but floated a bit more knowing you were about to finish something you were sure you couldn’t 30 minutes prior.

And when the cancer came and put you in a marathon none of us wanted to run, did all those times you ran anyway remind you how to get through?

Is that why you were able to navigate the medicine and the surgeries and the pain with stoicism?

Is that how you were able to slip from this life to the next with such swift, quiet grace?

You taught us so much about how to leave this life by how you ran your last race.

Thank you for finding a way to tell us to keep practicing, keep surviving, keep shuffling.

Our Story

What if the books you read your children empowered them and built their self-worth? What if the stories they heard presented characters communicating with compassion and empathy? Shine Your Light Books publishes stories for children that encourage love, unity, inner-peace and optimism. Through colorful illustrations and engaging storytelling, our books inspire readers to affirm their power within and express their authentic gifts. Whether we are reading to our children to entertain or educate, we have an opportunity to give them tools they will carry with them for a lifetime. When they hear stories that model compassion, reflection, self-worth and kindness, we are not only nurturing loving, peaceful children, but loving, peaceful adults.
