True enough..our elderly parents are not obligation, but out of love we will do everything for them.

I was struck by Vic Sotto’s words when he said, “Hindi mo obligasyon na bayaran ang mga magulang mo sa pagpapalaki sa’yo. Pero obligasyon mo na, mahalin sila sa panahong ‘di na nila kayang kumita ng pera.”

Because love, when it comes to our parents, was never meant to be a transaction.

They never sent us the bill for every meal they skipped so we could eat.

And yet, as time passes, the roles gently shift.

The hands that once carried us will tremble. The eyes that once watched over us will grow dim. And in those quiet years, love calls us back, not to repay, but to remember.

To remember that they once gave us everything when they had so little. To remember that one day, it will be our turn to give, not out of duty, but out of gratitude.

Vic’s words remind us that honoring our parents isn’t about paying back. It’s about showing up.

It’s about sitting beside them when the house grows silent, listening to the same stories again, and holding their hands like they once held ours.

Worth reading. Simplicity is more meaningful, silence speaks more than a thousand words.

I was deeply moved by John Lloyd Cruz’s quiet reminder, “Hindi kailangang maging engrande ang buhay mo, para maging makabuluhan. Minsan sapat na ang maging mabuti.”

In a world obsessed with more, we forget that meaning is not found in grandeur, but in goodness.

You don’t need to be celebrated to matter. You don’t need to be seen to have purpose.

The most beautiful lives are the ones lived quietly, the ones that choose kindness over recognition, peace over pride, love over luxury.

At the end of it all, you won’t be remembered for how grand your house was, but for how warm your presence felt.

Sometimes, to live a meaningful life, you don’t have to be great. You just have to be good.
