🎙 BRAIN Conference | London — Vesalio Fireside Talks

Across three powerful conversations, global stroke and thrombectomy leaders shared what’s shaping care today — and what’s coming next.

🔹 Dr Ameer Hassan and Dr Raul Nogueira highlighted the growing evidence base in both vasospasm and ischaemic stroke, from the global impact of the NeVa VS DILATE Registry to advances thrombectomy, and the promise of NEVA, NEVA NET and its distal embolic protection — underscoring the need for robust, prospective data to guide future practice.

🔹 Prof. Sedar Geyik and Dr Paul Bhogal focused on real-world experience, sharing consistently high first-pass success with NEVA and NEVA NET, the importance of operator expertise, and how smarter device integration — including smaller devices and optimised combination of complementary thrombectomy technologies — could push outcomes even further.

🔹 Looking back at a landmark year, Diane Demet Tangun, Jennifer Geluso, and Jessica Koradin reflected on major clinical publications, global regulatory milestones and recent FDA clearances of Vesalio technologies, setting the stage for 2026 where the team look forward to reaching more patients and save more lives.

🚀 One shared vision: better devices, higher first-pass success, stronger evidence — and continued progress in stroke care worldwide.

🎥 New Video from WSC 2025 | Elevating Lived Experience in Stroke Care

We’re proud to share a powerful discussion from the authors of the WSC 2025 poster “Inclusion of lived experience of stroke across the stroke health ecosystem.”

Featuring:

• Erica Alexandra Murphy – Bayer AG, Germany

• Stacie Broek – Writer, health advocate & stroke survivor

• Prof. Melinda Roaldsen – Stroke scientist with lived experience

• Angelique Balguid – Philips Healthcare

The panel explores:

🔹 Why survivor insights are essential in treatment, research, innovation & policy
🔹 How meaningful engagement improves outcomes and strengthens stroke systems
🔹 What best-practice inclusion looks like across individual care and systemic decision-making

Their message is clear: inclusion without meaning isn’t progress.

By partnering with people with lived experience, we can build stroke care infrastructures that truly reflect the needs, hopes and priorities of survivors worldwide.

Stroke survivors deserve more than consultation, they deserve a real voice. That’s why SHINE was created.

In our new video, Stacie Broek, Melinda Roaldsen, Stacy Quinn and Erica Murphy explain how SHINE is built on three powerful pillars:
✨ Survivor-led leadership
🌍 Global collaboration
🚀 Action-oriented advocacy

SHINE is connecting survivor advocates around the world to influence policy, promote person-led care and share global strategies for better support after stroke.

With support from an international advisory board of leading stroke experts—Bo Norrving, Sheila Martins, Urs Fischer, Else Sandset, Francesca Pezzella and Simona Sacco—lived experience shapes every part of the initiative.

SHINE is helping shape a future where survivors lead the change.
