Well done Heather for tidying up the planters lower down Carlton Street today. Heather has planted one with drought tolerant plants. If anyone who lives nearby or runs a local business would be able to water them while they’re so young we would be very grateful. Also if you’re coming into town that way then maybe carry a bottle of water to pour on this planter? Thank you.

Castleford Civic Society are keenly anticipating the launch of this work. We were part of scoping the original project vision. Some of us even got to take part in the drone and 360 degree photography of actual Roman artefacts. What we saw of the project completed for the Roman Festival was very exciting so yes we’re all eagerly anticipating the launch.

A very well done to the Art Club at Castleford Park Junior Academy for their wonderful art work to celebrate 200 years of the railway. Their wonderful artwork was installed today at Castleford Railway Station. Their art represents the children’s depiction of the railway through the ages and its history in Castleford too. We also need to thank the Friends of Castleford Railway Station, Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation - YPO for providing all the art materials and Northern Railway for installing their work on two banners in the station. We hope the children and their teachers enjoyed their train ride to Leeds to thank them for all their hard work.

Thank you Joseph Sunderland for joining
us today and posting about our litter picking and planter tidying session. We were pleased to see less litter this week. We will look to continue our town tidy up sessions in conjunction with the work already done by Wakefield Council Streetscene team on August 4th from 10:30am meeting at the library.
