Oceanside pizzeria owner Joseph Piccolo is facing multiple charges after allegedly abusing an employee who is a minor earlier this month.

Piccolo, 61, the owner of Pizzaiola, has been charged with one count of forcible touching, two counts of acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17, and three counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

The incident allegedly occurred on Aug. 10 around 9:30 p.m. at the Long Beach Road restaurant.

Court records say Piccolo asked the victim to come into his private office, claiming he wanted to give them extra money.

He then allegedly shut the door, handed the victim $200 in cash, and kissed and touched them.

Nassau County police arrested Piccolo on August 15. He was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Long before most kids are even aware of the weather beyond recess, 11-year-old Deen DeFrank has been keeping a trained eye on the sky.

Deen, who recently graduated from Marion Street Elementary and will be entering South Middle School this fall, has been fascinated with storms, cloud formations and severe weather since he was 5 years old.

“I started off reading books on storms and tornadoes,” Deen said. “And I really got into tornadoes and storms and weather and all that.”

Lynbrook resident Alex Calvo didn’t let limited resources or lack of experience stop him from creating a full-length detective drama.

By day, Calvo works a civilian job with the Nassau County Police Department. By night—and over the course of a year—he transformed his basement into a convincing homicide department, wrote a script in just 16 hours, and enlisted over 20 volunteers from Facebook to help bring his vision to life.

The result? A two-hour independent film that recently premiered at a local theater in Bellmore.
