Meet the People Tour continues as President Adama Barrow visited the Jah Oil Cement Factory currently under construction in Bereto. Upon completion, the factory is expected to produce up to 100,000 bags of cement per day, thereby reducing The Gambia’s dependence on cement import.
The project is also expected to create around 300 new jobs.
on agri-business, the Jah group exhibited industrial tractors in preparation for the dry season. It plans to invest in the production of onion, potatoes and maize for animal feeds along with its current investment in rice production. Such investments are in line with the government’s industrialisation policy encouraging Gambians in the sector.
The Gambian leader expressed delight with what he saw and emphasised the need for more Gambians to lead such industries.
The new factory is part of Jah Oil's broader investment in national industrialisation and import substitution.
