Bringing Back Smile on the Face of Ameer Khan
According to Ameer Khan the curse of the coronavirus has turned him into a serious person. He is usually a good jolly fellow. I know Ameer since my childhood when he used to bring his colorful paper, wooden and clay made toys and artefacts and still remember that kids would almost jump upon him with excitement. He was the one of the lucky vendors who sold his artefacts before others did and happily turned to his home to share the reward with his family. He had been doing this work since his childhood and does not know anything else.
Since the last two weeks had been very hard as no children were ready to buy from him. “There are very few children on the streets. So who will buy my stuff?”, he complained sadly. He is a master craftsman and proud of the quality of his work. But he is also a daily-wager who worked everyday to support his family. A few days he did survive on small savings but it became clear that no children are going to buy his pieces, he became sad. “I put my cloth on my face with a purpose, so no child could see me sad or unhappy.” It was very heart-wrenching to hear it from a childhood hero :(
Our petty support to help Ameer Khan buy groceries and food items of his choice to run his family kitchen was a huge relief for him. He was all prayers and good wishes for those who supported this initiative.
