Sometimes the best present isn’t something you get—it’s the joy of surprising someone you love with something they’ve more than earned. Today, for my birthday, I gave my hardworking girl a gift she never saw coming: a trip to Harry Potter World at Universal Studios, perfectly planned by .

She had zero clue until she opened my last “present”—a custom Hogwarts acceptance letter—and let out a squeal heard around the world when she realized what it meant. Bitty girl, in honor of your 11th “Harry Potter birthday”, I’m over the moon to spend the next few days as a family celebrating you!! ✨⚡️

Watching my daughter step onto the stage after weeks of Camp Casa is something I’ll carry with me forever. She walked in on that first day with her headshot in hand and a spark in her eye, determined to give it everything she had. For three weeks, she immersed herself in every rehearsal—learning lines, music, and choreography—and growing in ways that only this kind of experience can inspire.

When the lights came up on Newsies Jr., she stood there with no trace of fear, just steady confidence and so much joy. To see her shine with such courage and self-belief was a gift I’ll never be able to fully put into words.

Thank you to Casa Mañana for pouring into these kids with not only such remarkable expertise, but such genuine care. You don’t just teach them how to perform—you show them what’s possible when they trust themselves and go after something brave.

Remember Bitty, you can’t be brave until you do something scary first. We believe in you always - even if you are a bad guy character! 😉

With tears hiding behind my sunglasses, my boys and I popped by a very sweet lemonade/cookie stand created by some of our favorite Mystic girls. They, understandably, wanted to feel like they were doing something to help. 💚
I’ll be back to sharing our favorite Fort Worth spots soon, but for now, I want to hold space for the stories coming out of the Hill Country. My heart is with everyone affected by the devastating floods, especially the families and community of Camp Mystic.

Sometimes the most important thing we can do is pause, honor the weight of loss, and let those who are hurting know they are not alone. Thinking of all who are grieving, rebuilding, and finding hope again.

To my sweet Danny,

Four years ago today, you made your entrance into this world on your own perfect timeline. I’ll never forget how my water broke out of the blue (much to my own disbelief), and you decided that July 7th was going to be your day—just in time to match your great-grandfather before you. What a gift it is that you share a birthday with him. You’ve been a literal gift ever since.

You are my third baby, but every bit of you has felt like a brand new miracle. You are brave, headstrong, and completely your own person. You’re our baby! You have brought so much joy, curiosity, strength, and sunshine into our family. Watching you grow has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. It has also flown far too fast.

Happy 4th birthday, my darling boy. Thank you for reminding me that some of the best things in life come unplanned—yet right on time. You are my constant perspective. I love you more than words.

Today my boy’s birthday party started and it began to immediately pour down rain. My mom brain panicked. After a quick re-centering of perspective, we celebrated our sweet boy turning four in full force with a Christmas in July party - foam, cookie decorating, snowballs, Santa and all.

I looked around with tears in my eyes and saw kids in swimsuits and Santa hats, dancing through puddles and giggling like it was the best adventure in the world -the day was everything magic for them.

After seeing the devastation in the Hill Country the last few days, it felt especially meaningful to stand there in the rain, grateful to be safe and together, simply celebrating my child’s birthday. I kept thinking of the parents whose lives have been turned upside down by flooding—who would give anything to have a soggy backyard party instead of heartbreak and worry. My heart broke for them. Perspective shifted.

Today was a reminder that the most beautiful memories are often the imperfect ones. The ones where everyone huddles close, hearts full of gratitude, and finds joy exactly where they are.

Happy 4th birthday to our fearless, puddle-loving boy. May you always carry this spirit—finding wonder, even when the skies are gray, and believing in a little Christmas magic all year long.❤️💚

We walked out the door with less than $25 and had two hours of constant Lego building at with my boys. The truck/trailer even came home with us for that price!

Nowadays we travel to create memories that outshine the fleeting moments - and stay in their hearts forever.

Our past trips to Germany were more than just sightseeing.

My son will remember the castle tours and the amazing food. But most of all, he’ll remember the little German pub where he sat at the bar with his uncle (who is currently stationed in Germany with the Army)—ordering kid drinks in a traditional beer stein and playing games together for hours.

These are the stories he’ll carry into adulthood. The moments that become part of who he is.
