🐈 Ever wondered where your calm, purring house cat really comes from? Their story begins thousands of years ago with the African wildcat. A shy, sandy-coated hunter who quietly wandered into early human settlements.

🐈‍⬛ Instead of being tamed by force, these wildcats domesticated themselves. Drawn to the rodents around ancient grain stores, they chose to live alongside humans… and humans welcomed them for the protection they offered.

🌍 From the deserts of Africa to the temples of ancient Egypt, this unlikely partnership grew into one of the most enduring bonds on Earth. Every tabby in our homes today still carries the instincts, elegance, and lineage of the African wildcat — the original feline who decided we were worth trusting.

A story of evolution, companionship, and the wild heart still beating inside every modern cat. 🐾✨

In this powerful clip from our conversation with Pulitzer Prize–winning author Elizabeth Kolbert, we dive into one of the most extraordinary frontiers in conservation: using AI to decode the language of s***m whales.

The idea that we may one day speak with another species doesn’t just reshape science — it reshapes our relationship with the natural world.

This work sits right at the intersection of curiosity, empathy, and innovation… and it reminds us how much possibility exists when we choose to invest in understanding rather than exploiting.

We hope this clip sparks something in you — a sense of wonder, a sense of responsibility, and maybe even a sense of what the future of conservation could look like.

How Hatcheries Help Sea Turtles

🎥 Every tiny step toward the ocean counts.

Across the world, dedicated conservation teams and local communities are protecting sea turtle nests — shielding eggs from poachers, predators, and rising tides.

Inside turtle hatcheries, these fragile eggs are kept safe until it’s time to return to the sea. Once the hatchlings emerge, they’re released under the stars — a moment of pure hope and ancient instinct. 🌙✨

These hatcheries are more than just nurseries.
They’re lifelines — helping thousands more turtles survive those first dangerous minutes of life.

While nature once did this alone, human help now bridges the gap we created — giving sea turtles a fighting chance in a changing world.

Each hatchling that makes it to the ocean carries millions of years of evolution in its tiny heartbeat. Let’s make sure they keep returning for millions more. 💚🐢

How do you feel when the Earth loses one of its champions?

What do you say to one of your heroes when you finally meet them?

There are so many emotions today learning that one of the most special human beings has left our planet today.

We are full of gratitude for Jane Goodall's life work for not only fighting for Chimpanzees but for all the creatures she worked hard to protect.

What Jane should also be remembered for is her Roots and Shoots program, making the world better for all of us, humans included!

We are so full of gratitude for not only meeting our hero but for her earnest work and showing ALL OF US the path forward.

The Earth is a bit dimmer today, but take that love we all have for Jane Goodall and carry her work forward.

🦌✨ White-tailed Deer: Nature’s Comeback Story ✨🦌

Did you know male white-tailed deer grow the fastest bone in the animal kingdom? Their antlers can sprout up to an inch per day in summer! 🌱➡️🦌

But not long ago, these icons of the Americas nearly vanished. By the early 1900s, unregulated hunting and habitat loss drove them to the brink. Thanks to wildlife protections and conservation, their numbers have rebounded to over 30 million today — one of the greatest success stories in North American wildlife history. 🌍💚

From flashing their white tails as warning signals to regrowing antlers every year, the white-tailed deer is a true survivor — and a symbol of what’s possible when humans choose protection over exploitation.

🌍🐒 Meet Bill Wallauer
Bill is the official videographer, filmmaker, and scientific advisor for the Jane Goodall Institute. For over 30 years, he’s been behind the lens capturing the intimate lives of chimpanzees at Gombe National Park.

From documenting the first ever wild chimpanzee birth on film to sharing their stories with the world through documentaries, Bill’s work has brought us closer to our closest relatives than ever before. 🎥✨

None of this would have been possible without Dr. Jane Goodall, who forever changed the way we see chimpanzees. Her groundbreaking research showed the world that chimps use tools, form deep family bonds, and have rich emotional lives. She didn’t just rewrite science books—she ignited a global movement for conservation and compassion. 💚🌱

We’re honored to speak with Bill about his journey, his work with Jane, and what we can all do to protect chimpanzees and the forests they call home.

👉 Tune in to our latest episode of the All Creatures Podcast to hear Bill’s incredible stories from Gombe and beyond.
