🌊 Eastbourne Lifeboat Crews in Back-to-Back Rescues During Airshow 🌊

On Saturday (16 Aug), RNLI Eastbourne crews were called to two emergencies within an hour.

👣 Rescue 1 – Four people cut off by the tide at Belle Tout Lighthouse were saved by the inshore and all-weather lifeboats and brought safely to Holywell beach.

⛵ Rescue 2 – While returning to station, crews responded to a Pan Pan distress call from a sailing vessel with a fouled anchor. The crew freed it by hand before lifeboats confirmed no further help was needed.

👏 A swift and professional response from Eastbourne’s volunteer lifeboat crews during one of the busiest weekends of the year.

Littlehampton RNLI crews were called into action on Saturday afternoon (16 August) after a vessel with four people on board suffered engine failure near Shelley Rocks.

The volunteer crew launched their Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Renee Sherman, at 2:50pm following a request for assistance.

On arrival, lifeboat crews secured the stricken vessel and safely towed it back to Littlehampton Harbour, where it was brought to safety.

🚨 Shoreham RNLI Launch to Person in Difficulty at Worthing Pier 🚨

Shoreham RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was launched on Saturday afternoon following reports of a person in difficulty in the water near Worthing Pier.

As crews arrived on scene, it was confirmed that the individual had safely made their way back to shore and was being cared for by the Coastguard Rescue Team.

The lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.

Man rescued after over 4 hours in the sea when his boat’s railing broke off Felpham. Empty vessel washed ashore with engine running. Saved by RNLI & Coastguard near Littlehampton.

Tipner Boat Collision – One Dead, One Missing, West Sussex Man Injured 🚨

A man has died, another remains missing, and a West Sussex man has been injured following a serious boat crash near Tipner on Thursday evening (14 August).

Emergency services, including police, paramedics, and coastguard crews from Portsmouth and Hill Head, were called shortly before 8pm after reports a rigid-hulled inflatable boat had been involved in a severe collision.

🔴 A man in his 60s from Emsworth was pronounced dead at the scene.
🔴 A man in his 50s from West Sussex was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.
🔴 A man in his 60s from Havant is still missing, with search efforts continuing.

Police are working with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) to establish what happened.

Search off Felpham Beach is now over after an empty vessel washed ashore this evening. Unconfirmed reports say the skipper was found in the sea after possibly falling overboard.

✈️ The RAF Red Arrows are set to light up Airbourne on all four days this week!
Display times (BST): Thu 15:30 • Fri–Sun 16:30
They’ll route in from Bournemouth via south of Brighton → NE of Lewes → NW of Wilmington → Eastbourne seafront, then head back to Bournemouth.
Altitude: approx 250–2,000ft AGL.
