The ground is round baby. Drove a new ground rod all the way into the earth today. Took about three weeks of going back and working on it. Lots of people, who had been through this nightmare, had helpful ideas. In the end it was water that made it all happen. All the rain, and then a ten foot 1/2" conduit plugged into the water hose. Shoved that into the ground and worked it for about five sessions before it began to really dig in and make some headway. Hooked up my new isolated ground colored, 8 gauge wire from the Ground bus to the new Ground Rod. Honestly didn't expect much of a difference, other than the emotional satisfaction that the job was complete.
Prior to this, the radio shack was ground using a three foot rod with much smaller wire. Pleasantly surprised, like a washed car drives better, I got to listening to the world wide bands, and clear as day, there was China, Korea, the Philippines, Japan, and, oddly enough, Louisiana...
