Street marshal patrols have started in Newton Abbot as part of a hotspot policing initiative in Devon and Cornwall.

The patrols aim to proactively disrupt crime and act as a deterrent, as well as providing a reassuring presence to help people feel safe.

Newton Abbot Security Trust (NAST) will be delivering the patrols. They operate the CCTV system and work closely with businesses to ensure safety in the town centre. The funding allows an extension of their service with high visibility foot patrols.

The initiative represents a multi-agency approach between Newton Abbot’s neighbourhood policing team, the NAST street marshals and us to improve community safety and it is hoped it will make a real difference to the town centre.

Street marshal patrols are starting in Newton Abbot this week as part of a hotspot policing initiative.

We’re pleased to be working with the Newton Abbot Security Trust (NAST) who operate the CCTV system and work closely with businesses to ensure safety in the town centre. The funding for this initiative allows an extension of their service with high visibility foot patrols.

The patrols aim to disrupt crime as well as enable impactful community engagement. We’ll also have an increased presence in the town centre as the funding enables extra police patrols over the summer too.

Thanks to Teignbridge District Council for continuing to make our community safer and The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon and Cornwall for securing the funding for these additional patrols.
Come and say hello if you see us or the street marshal team in town!
