Medical Doctor seizes the opportunity to remind Regina and Nigerians that as we speak, Nigerian hospitals are unmanned as Doctors are currently on strike.

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) in Nigeria is currently on a total and indefinite nationwide strike (which began on November 1st, 2025).

The strike is a result of the Nigerian Federal Government's alleged failure to fully implement numerous agreements and address long-standing welfare and structural challenges.

His legal battle has been complex and politically charged, hence the ongoing high-profile lingering case.

He has been arrested twice, with a period out on bail in between.

Current Detention (The Second Arrest)
- He was re-arrested in June 2021 (specifically reported as June 27, 2021) after he fled Nigeria in 2017

- He has been in the custody of Nigeria's Department of State Services (DSS) since his return to Nigeria in June 2021.

As of today, November 7, 2025, that is approximately 4 years and 5 months in his current, continuous detention.

First Detention Period

He was first arrested in October 2015 (reported as October 14, 2015).

He was detained for over a year until he was released on bail in April 2017.

So, while his legal battle has spanned a decade, his current uninterrupted detention dates back to mid-2021.
