Education does not happen in the classroom�

Life has been crazy this year again which has put many things not farming/work related on the back burner. I was able to take a weekend off and enjoy a couple days fishing with our friends kids. It gave me sometime to sit back and think how time gets away and I was once that young kid who loved fishing so much that I would get mad at my dad for not waking me up at 5 am to go out. It was quite enjoyable to see them have so much fun, laugh endlessly, and they even out fished me. I hope when you have the chance to take young kids out, you jump at the opportunity, it’s priceless.

We have been MIA all summer as life seemed to get in the way of all things outdoors. As fall rolls around we are starting to make little time to get out. We are BACK and ready to hit the woods!

Days like these are few and far between. I’m glad we get to spend many days hunting with our grandpa each fall. I wish they lasted forever.

A day that will never be forgotten. We got into the blind a little later than planned but from first light until noon we had rutting deer all around us, but not the one we were after. We got one pic of this old boy at 3:40 am that morning so we liked our odds. At 2:05 I looked up from the game of crib we had finished and BOOM there he was at 30 yards. We were leaning on the side of passing until he stepped 3 yards in front of us and grandpa said “what are you waiting for! Shoot!” Once broadside I was able to take a shot and cut my tag a mature whitetail that we have been watching for 3 years. The deer is one thing, but the weekend spent with our grandpa hunting deer is the best thing of it all.

With the help from an experienced cowboy .link I could cut my very first elk tag this morning. Thank you Coop and Roper on helping gut and skin. Another memory chalked up.
