Happy 58th Birthday, Singapore!
Getting rained on at the Padang during Singapore’s first National Day Parade in 1966; taking part in the first Great Singapore Workout on its open playing field; experiencing the profound silence that washed over the Padang during the 2015 NDP celebrations as parade-goers paid tribute to former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew; uncovering artefacts during an archaeological dig at the site in 2003; watching a telecast of NDP from home in 2020 as the nation celebrated in the thick of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Padang, a National Monument, is a site of a myriad personal and historical memories, and holds a special place in the hearts of many. Memories were made once again at NDP 2023, which was held there for the first time since 2019!
Enjoy this short film, a collaboration with NDP to recollect some of these ‘firsts’ in a video that was officially unveiled at NDP 2023.
