EMV0005: DIED PRETTY - Doughboy Hollow LP. Due for release on the 17th of April is a reissue of this uber-classic Died Pretty LP, originally released on the Blue Mosque label in 1991. It was a major indie 'hit' Down Under, spearheaded by tracks such as "DC", "Sweetheart" and "Godbless", and sold thousands of units. And no one ever sells their copies! So here we present a newly remastered edition with artwork and packaging faithful to the original and it's a chance to rediscover one of THE great Australian albums by one of the greatest Australian bands ever. Amen! 🙏

Album of the week on 3RRR...

1978 is the first official release from Melbourne post-punk band Young Charlatans, out on new label, Eminent Vinyl. The band existed in volatile form for roughly six months in 1978, playing just over a dozen gigs across Melbourne before dissolving, having never released a record.

This LP compiles 13 original songs drawn from two sources: a demo recorded with Ron Rude in June 1978, and a live recording from the Tiger Lounge in Richmond. Both have been remastered by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Total Control), and the package includes a four-page booklet with extensive liner notes by music writer Clinton Walker. There are also photos and ephemera sourced by Phil Morland and Triple R's own Bruce Milne, the band's original manager.

Available to order now on Bandcamp, a new archival record that I am involved with... the YOUNG CHARLATANS '1978' LP, and on a new imprint Eminent Vinyl

The first compile of this short lived Melbourne New Wave/Post Punk band featuring four awesome individuals who have stamped their style and musicianship across the fabric of the Australian Independent music scene...Ollie Olsen (Pre-Whirlywirld /Max Q etc..), Rowland S. Howard (Pre -Boys Next Door /The Birthday Party), Janine Hall (who would later play in The Saints and Weddings, Parties, Anything) and Jeffrey Wegener (Pre-The Laughing Clowns).

The record includes the embryonic version of 'Shivers' and a swag of really strong Demo and Live tracks which have survived the past bunch of decades. Deep liner notes, photos and art and an initial edition of 100 on Purple Vinyl and regular Black Vinyl also.

Mastered by Mikey Young and a great snapshot of Melbourne's flourishing band scene of the late 70's.Watch for a string of LP's on the label across 2026, some of which will be co-released with FMR.
