Gov. Diri signs 2024 Budget, Electricity Bill
..thanks Bayelsans for their support

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri today, Signed the 2024 budget of N489,443,632,374.00 (Four Hundred and Eighty-Nine Billion, Four Hundred and Forty-Three Million, Six Hundred and Thirty-Two Thousand, Three Hundred and Seventy -Four Naira) into law.

This budget, titled "Sustainable and Shared Prosperity", encapsulates the mandate and essence of the Government of Prosperity to create favourable conditions and opportunities for all Bayelsans.

While signing the bill in Government House, Yenagoa, Governor Diri, thanked the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere and members of the Assembly for putting the people first and for timely passage of the bill.

The governor also thanked the people of the state for endorsing the government of prosperity for a second term.

He further called on members of the state assembly, public servants and the people of the state to join hands with the government in implementing the programs and projects of government.

"In order to realise our vision of sustainable and shared prosperity, we have carefully crafted this budget to prioritize key sectors aimed at improving our infrastructure, expanding access to mass education with emphasis on Technical and Vocational Manpower Development, enhance healthcare services, and promote agriculture as a means of creating employment opportunities and reducing poverty", he stated.

The Governor also signed the 2023 electricity bill into law to make room for private investments into power generation in Bayelsa State.

Great Joshua MacIver is not fit to be even a community youth president following his continuous call for vawulence in the forthcoming Bayelsa State Governorship elections.

Truly this man needs to be arrested and investigated, he cannot be using prison languages, threatening people and campaigning with such vawulence intentions.

With these recent post he made, I think he truly need a mindset therapist.

Mr Events Update

It was simply an awesome experience as my re-election campaign trail landed in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, my home LGA.

The large turnout of people in the two Constituencies was so reassuring of the home support for my candidacy and our great party, PDP.

Thank you to leaders, stakeholders and our support base in Kolga Constituency I and II.

The Prosperity Government is committed to the completion of the Polaku-Sabagreai road and the commencement of the new Igbedi-Kaiama road.

During our visit, we inaugurated several completed projects executed by the government and others executed by our Lawmakers as Constituency projects- internal roads, Town Hall, landing jetties, Corper's Lodge, and also the Science, Technical and Vocational College in Sampou.

On behalf of my running mate and Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, and the Director-General of the Campaign Council, Hon. Mitema Obordor, I wish to appreciate our traditional rulers for their royal blessings.

To cap these blessings, the Ibenanaowei of Kolokuma Kingdom, HRM King Agara Onya Mozi, formally installed me as Olotu kpe-kpe 1, while my Deputy was conferred with the chieftaincy title of "Kuro-Okpo I."

Thank you all as we remain confident that we will win.
