Some thoughts by Ray Dalio on the Big Beautiful Bill:

"Now that the budget bill has passed Congress, we can see what the projections look like for deficits, government debt, and debt service expenses.

In brief, the bill is expected to lead to spending of about $7 trillion a year with inflows of about $5 trillion a year, so the debt, which is now about 6x of the money taken in, 100 percent of GDP, and about $230,000 per American family, will rise over ten years to about 7.5x the money taken in, 130 percent of GDP, and $425,000 per family.

That will increase interest and principal payments on the debt from about $10 trillion ($1 trillion in interest, $9 trillion in principal) to about $18 trillion (of which $2 trillion is interest payments), which will lead to either a big squeezing out (and cutting off) of spending and/or unimaginable tax increases, or a lot of printing and devaluing of money and pushing interest rates to unattractively low levels.

This printing and devaluing is not good for those holding bonds as a storehold of wealth, and what’s bad for bonds and US credit markets is bad for everyone because the US Treasury market is the backbone of all capital markets, which are the backbones of our economic and social conditions.

Unless this path is soon rectified to bring the budget deficit from roughly 7%
of GDP to about 3% by making adjustments to spending, taxes, and interest rates, big, painful disruptions will likely occur".

This week's Generous Investor guest, David Palmer, kept hearing the same thing from the men he helped serve at Wheeler Mission: we need jobs. Eleven years later the company he founded, Purposeful Design, gives people the chance to develop woodworking and metalworking skills as they construct beautiful - and highly demanded - office furniture.

In this solo episode I explain the very basics of crypto currency by segmenting different coins into one of four buckets.

Yes, you* can but you* can't time the market.

I'll explain.

Here's the truth - Warren has let cash & equivalents build to around 30% of Berkshire Hathaway's balance sheet. He and other deeply skilled investors occasionally have large, liquid asset balances when they can't find compelling value among investment opportunities. That works for them.

However, unless you're both deeply skilled at recognizing compelling and able to find enough opportunities, you'll probably get creamed trying to follow them.

In any given calendar year, the annual returns of indices typically accrue in only 10-15% of trading days. That means that the remaining 85-90% of trading days sum to a roughly 0% return. I've run the analysis several times and the results are remarkably consistent, whether the year is good or bad.

That's why you* should stay invested and forget timing the market.

Happy 15th Bitcoin ! On 22 May 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 for two pizzas. Those pies were a little pricey at the time, costing the equivalent of $41.

At today’s price of $111,000 per coin, those pizzas would now be priced at $1.11 billion. That’s .

Let’s be clear: is currently more volatile than , and because it’s divisible into far smaller dollar amounts than gold, it’s easier for more people to own tiny amounts.

With those things said, Bitcoin is designed to be easily and globally transferable, fungible, secure, highly portable, and programatically “harder” than gold. Over time, its volatility will decline toward that of gold. In the meantime, it will function as pristine digital capital for holding periods over 3 years.

There’s a consistent theme among some of the best investors: buy great businesses which you can hold for many years while they generate increasing cash flow. Today’s episode features Brian Pitkin, founder and portfolio manager of URI Capital Management. Brian’s and my conversation covered several long-term value creation strategies from TARP warrants, to pipelines, to banks. If you admire investors with mindsets similar to Warren Buffett, you will enjoy this deep dive with Brian.

U.S. indices are pointing higher and bond yields lower following this news, which seems darkly ironic on the surface. But a weakening jobs market means the will be more likely to intervene by lowering or, if it should get challenging, more . Prices quickly rising when the real economy slows illustrates the longer term challenge of and demonstrates the speed with which news is factored into capital asset prices.

Initial unemployment claims posted an unexpected increase last week in a potential trouble sign for the wobbling U.S. economy.
